I went online and found the HP8600 user manual and this is their solution to the error code 363 that you reported, which I copied off their site. Hope this works for you:

  • Turn Error Correction Mode (ECM) off, if you encounter the same error repeatedly. Click this link HP All-in-One and Fax Products for more information on enabling or disabling ECM.

HP error code 363, what does this mean? - beaac3qsmgaaaaaelftksuqmcc

NOTE: Error codes that apply specifically to ECM have ECM listed next to them.

Error Code: 356, 357, 358, 359, 360, 361, 362 ECM, 363 ECM, 364 ECM, 365 ECM, 366 ECM

Definitions

  • The remote user pressed the Stop key, causing the session to be terminated.
  • The remote machine encountered a system problem such as no paper or a paper jam. This prevented the fax from receiving any more pages, and caused it to terminate the session prematurely.
  • The call-waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for an incoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line.
  • The remote machine encountered an incompatible feature causing it to terminate the session.

Solutions

  • Configure the remote machine for document reception by clearing any paper jams, loading sufficient paper, and clearing any other error messages.
  • Configure the local fax machine to use a slower reception speed.
  • Enable or disable the ECM setting.

We are having issues faxing to one particular number. We think our fax goes through, but spits out a Error 345*. Nothing is sent

fax machines talk to each other before sending data to ensure that the sender/receiver are on the same format and are compatible
for one particular number to be a problem indicates a fax number problem in setting the dialed number area code , dashes etc are all specific
ring the receiving department and ask to confirm that they are having trouble receiving faxes from your number as well

Error code 358 mean?

From HP: "The remote user pressed the Stop key, causing the session to be terminated." Meaning the problem is at the location of the fax you are sending TO. Call them, and ask them to confirm that their fax device is ready and able to receive.

My HP 8600 Premium no longer sends or accepts FAXes. It says it's connecting, but never does. And returns error 344. I know the other fax machines are working fine. Please advise.

Here's a document that explains some on the fax error codes: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=buu02549
The code 344 indicates noise or static on the line and usually the best way to get around that is to disable Error Correction Mode and/or lower the fax speed.
To disable the Error Correction Mode (ECM) touch the right arrow, then Setup, then Advanced Fax Setup, then down arrow and then Error Correction Mode and set it to Off.
To lower the fax speed, also go to Advanced Fax Setup and set it to Slow.
