Why does my washing machine skip rinse and spin cycles then a code of oL comes on the timer also jumps from 12 min to 3 min during this process

I had a similar problem with ours and had a repair guy come out and look at it. He suggested running a couple of heavy bleach cycles through the machine. He said that sometimes if you use too much detergent (especially if you're not using the "High Efficiency" type of detergent) detergent builds up on a sensor in the machine and causes longer than necessary wash cycles. We actually ran 2 cycles of bleach and then a couple more with no bleach or detergent and the problem cleared up.

Something might be stuck under the agitator, the transmission is locking u, or the motor is faulty and drawing a large current. These are the possible reasons the OL keeps coming up. Let
us know if you need further advice but indicate the exact model number of the machine. Please accept
the solution should you find it helpful and informative. Accepting the
solution will not stop you from communicating with the expert. You can
still communicate with the expert should you need further advice

From the service manual. "oL" (Over Load) Is the washer overloaded? The washer has attempted to fill and begin the wash cycle. If the washer is overloaded, it will drain any water and detergent that was added during the fill. To correct the overload, remove several items and add detergent. Close lid
and press START.
Are you getting any error code on the control panel?
Any blinking lights?
If not sure sounds like a control issue.
Let me know what you find after completing the procedure and please answer the questions.

Lid Switch Assembly
If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch
assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid
switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any
electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches
should have continuity according to their design.

Water Inlet Valve
If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet
valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water
rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit
indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water
to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the
cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.
