I had the same problem after running an update to my Norton anti-virus software. When booting the laptop, press F2 to go to the setup menu. One of the options allows you to change the order that is searched when booting up. I moved the boot from hard drive to the last option, allowing it to boot from a network first (which it doesn't find), then from a portable device second (which it doesn't find), and finally from the hard drive. When I boot up, after it doesn't find the first two options, it boots from the hard drive with no problem.

You will probably have to reflash the BIOS, since this issue indicates that the BIOS is corrupted. You can get the BIOS from the Toshiba support site by clicking the link below. Note that this laptop model ships with many different motherboards so you will need to check yours and download the one that matches your board. Attempting to flash with incorrect BIOS may cause irreparable damge to your laptop.

Hi ,
Did you install any new hardware and after that your system is not booting look at that and also try to check the condition of the memory if any latch or something is damaged.Try if you can log into safe mode as when the system boots press or Hold F8 . It can also be due to system getting corrupted. Also try the Last known good configuration option to see if your laptop functions. for this too press F8 and select and let me know.
Regards.

If the ThinkPad appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem could be the back light. This fault can be caused by a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link to determine the fault and fix :-

Welcome to Fixya
Looks like the LCD has a problem. You can try to do basic torubleshopoting first by draining the electrostatic charge of the motherboard. Take out the battery then unplug the power adapter from your computer. Press and hold the power button for 15 secs. Put everything back in then turn on the computer. If same thing happened after doing this procedure then you need to contact Lenovo for repair of this computer. The number is 18774536686 then press option 2.
