Not sure what you mean but if you are saying the weedwacker head is not engaging it may be the cable that goes from the motor to the weedwacker head and runs down the inside of the shaft.

on the operator there is either a sensitivity setting for up or down,most likely if you take the cover off of unit you will see a round nylon gear about 4",my guess is,its stripped
I HAVE KINDA SAME PROBLEM. When I to use it doesn't engaged. I have rock it back and forth to make work. Took repair 2 times, they blow the clutchs out air. Dust in the clutchs. It doesn't work for me. They can't get it not to work.
The tractor has a safety feature that doesn't allow you to start the engine with the mower engaged. Just disengage the mower, then start the engine. Once you have it running, then engage the mower.
