Hello all, I have S305 connected via USB. Everything worked after installing the 64bits driver under windows 8 64bits. After awhile, when trying to print I have a communication error from the driver saying that the printer did not respond. However for the device manager, the printer works fine. The only thing that works is reinstalling the driver. And of course after awhile (weeks), problem again. Did anybody have this kind of things before? Is it because of an interaction in the driver between WIFI and USB connection? How to solve this permanently?

i had a similar problem when the printer wouldn't print. Make sure that the printer 3400 lexmark series is the default printer in the control panel. (start/control panel/printers/printers and faxes/right click lexmark 3400 series/set as default printer).

I fixed this by completely uninstalling the Lexmark software, then unplugging the USB and restarting. I then installed the new Lexmark software that I downloaded from their site, make sure not to plug the USB back in until it told me to. It then detected the printer properly and started working.

OK I'll give this a go but you may have been led down this path already by the Techies.
Disconnect the printer from the PC
Go to the control panel/printers and faxes and right click on the printer and uninstall.
Reboot PC
Just in case your initial driver download was corrupted go to the Lexmark site again and re--download the drivers and software.
Install the drivers and when prompted connect the printer to the PC.(make sure the printer is turned on beforehand) . The printer should then be detected and you should get a message (after several mins) that it is installed and ready to use. Don't do anything else until the lexmark install tells you it's finished.
Next install any software you downloaded (if any was available)
When finished restart your PC.
Hopefully all is OK but being neither a Lexmark user nor Vista user I cannot guarantee it and apologise if you've already been down this road before.
It works for me though on other OS and printers.

Unfortunately on their website it isn't listed as supported by windows 7. Also when a new operating system comes out there is always a lot of issues in the beginning. I have seen quite a few windows 7 problems of this nature. My first question would be did you run the setup in compatibility mode for windows vista? This would be the first thing to try.
Thank you,
Lee
A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by
resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer
from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and
re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns
on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again
once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on
the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).
If that doesn't help, try the steps below:
You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/guXLhl. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.
