Volume knob and remote stopped working

Hi there. My speakers volume knob has stopped working and so has the remote. The volume is stuck at one level and it won't increase or decrease. Any ideas on how this can be fixed? I love these speakers and would hate to have to replace them. Thanks. Mjp

SOURCE: Logitech Z2300 rustling sound on volume knob movement

I would definately not open up the wired remote. As for the rustling sound, I had the same problem with my set (only with a hissing sound instead of rustling). Make sure the output on your computer is all the way up, as well as the volume on whatever media player you are using. That eliminated the sound for me, but it might be a different problem alltogether.

SOURCE: popping & hardly any volume

i had the first problem and you can probably fix it by turning the volume knob all the way up and down about 20 times. it worked for me. supposedly the potentiometers in the z-5300 get dirty or worn out, somehow this might fix it. for the second problem maybe try plugging it into the laptop and unplugging it again seeing if it goes back to normal?maybe its a problem with the amp?

SOURCE: I have just bought

try swapping the speakers around if the problem still persists either the speaker is faulty or
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
or you might have to clean the dust from your computer dust causes static which causes your computer to overheat and all sorts of problems
be sure to wear an anti static earth strap before touching anything inside your computer try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit and your SOUND CARD dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems
other than that you might have a warranty issue
hope this helps

SOURCE: Rear speakers' volume of X-540

In order to do this, your computer must be able to support 5.1 systems! Seeing as how a person wouldn't buy this particular set of speakers without knowing that information, I'm guessing you have a bit of knowledge under your belt. You need to go into your audio device settings on your computer and you should have the ability to tweak the settings of the rear speakers from your audio controller panel. I myself have the EAX which allows access to adjusting the speakers volumes based on distance from the listener!

I have a ge gtd 120 home theatre surround sound.for some reason, my volume is stuck on one level.. I haven't had a remote for it for a while, just used the knob to adjust the volume.someone plz help!

Unless the system has some kind of automatic volume control on it, that can only be adjusted by the remote. I think you might have a faulty volume/tone control circuit. These days many amps have a single IC that will control the volume. If that goes the volume can get stuck on one level. Since the control knob you are turning is simply sending a signal to that IC. So if the IC has died the signal is not being received.
If you want to repair it yourself just follow the wires back to the board from the volume control. You should see a large multi pin black box that if your lucky is marked on the board volume control.

I have a crate vtx200s has very little volume everything else works whats the deal?

Hi, you hadnt mentioned how long you've had the amp, or how new it is, so I'm going to assume it's new to you. The Crate VTX200 has 3 channels, each with its own volume level. Let's check the simple things first:
1. Check to make sure you're adjusting the same volume knob volume knob to the same channel. The active channel will be lit with a green light.
2. Check the cables from the "Speaker Out" jacks on the amp (if you are using them). Are they plugged in all the way, or are they damaged?
3. Are you playing through a preset that you may have accidentally made "low", and may not be aware of or are stuck in it?
If none of these answers helps, there might be a problem with the input buffer in the circuit or possibly within the damping circuit of the speakers. I'd advise having the amp serviced to confirm an internal electrical problem also. If you don't have a manual for the amp, one can be found here:

Volume button sticks and raises to max level and cannot be turned down.

It sounds from your description there is a fault in the audio section electronics rather than with the button.

Volume / audio control knob

Hi, did you ever get this fixed, if so for how much and where. I have the same problem with my knob, it does not control the volume level but you can still access the other functions that require you to push the knob, like a button. My remote battery is dead so I have not being able to test it, it's just the knob no longer controls the volume.

Volume not function.

You need to be a bit clearer on the exact nature of the issue.
Please include if the unit was working and suddenly stopped producing sound (ie - speaker output fuse blew) or if you relocated the unit, and after hooking it back up, you aren't getting any sound (ie - not hooked up right) or if the volume knob isn't changing the readout for the volume level (logic or knob broken) - and also include the make and model of WHAT the volume knob is attached to (ie - Yamaha receiver model X)

Hi,
Looks like your volume control switch is not working on the left side, you can check it by tapping the knob on the volume control and sound will come out on left side.
The only way to get the sound again is to replace the volume control or pull out the volume control and open it up to clean the contacts in it.

Hope that helps you out!

Tv ws-65511 volume stuck

Did you ever get this problem fixed? Ours just started doing the same thing. It worked fine the night before, but today it's doing what yours is doing. The remote stopped working for the TV. The remote still works for the cable box, but volume and anything related to TV function not. The screen flashes when we try to adjust volume or anything else, but resets to previous volume. TV not responding to any commands either on the front panel or remote.
Any ideas? Thanks, Patti

Don't know how to adjust volume on remote speakers

Can I ask you something? I have the same but the remote doesn't work, and I have no sound in the B speakers. I wonder if there's something that I have to do with the remote, or there's a problem with the receiver, Thanks.
