Premium gas is a waste of money. domestically produced and sold cars are actually calibrated for econo gas. well, based on what you told me and the type of vehicle, i'd invest in some well-needed maintainence (COMPLETE tune up with AC Delco platinum plugs, fuel filter, air filter, pcv, cap and rotor) don't skimp on cap quality either- told ya -they're problem-prone. BUT with the "check gauges" light coming on, my bet is you're experiencing the warning signs of imminent fuel pump failure. gas gauge been bouncing or not reading accurately?

Try the fuel filter. Sounds like the engine might be running rough due to weak fuel pressure. Its cheaper to replace, especially if it's still original from 04. Try running some injector cleaner through a couple of tanks of high octane gas.

Either you have a vacuum leak or electrical issue.
First Inspect all vacuum lines.
Next test engine vacuum (17-21 hg's)
If all a-ok then its electrical and you got your work cut out for ya.Have to probe the circuit to see where its shorting and what its shorting to. I don't think it will be electrical simple because you would be blowing fuses if it was. Sounds more vacuum related..... and thats worse.

Sometimes the check gauge lights come on - but other than that no lights come on or anything - i have not had a tune up since I got the truck in october of 2007 - My boss told me to start using Premium gas and when I fill up use some type of fuel injectors
need some more info. any one of a million things could be causing this. gauge readings? fuel pressure? spark? when was the last tune? the ones with the cross-fire caps are known for shorting... what can you tell me?
