PLAYSTATION 3 blinks green and wont shut down

If you noticed that system recently freezes up, it migth be overheating or full of dust. There are several ways on how to check the issue, either you clean the system or place it in a cool area. Here are some ways to troubleshoot the problem.

1. Turn off the system completely then disconnect it from the power outlet. Press and hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds. Try to restart the system now. If still has the same problem proceed to step 2.

2 .Try to Unplug and replug all the cables.

3 .Take out the hard-drive, and put it back in after your console has been started up.

4. Make sure that you have at least 60% of the hard drive space free.

5. Clean your game discs with a micro-fiber cloth.

6. Clean the ps3 from dust. You can Use a micro-fiber cloth and use vacuum accessories to clean the dust from the grills and fans.

Alternative solution to remove the dust:
--> turn off the system by switching it off from the back. Please make sure that there's no inserted disc on the system.
--> Now hold the eject button and while holding it try to switch it back on. Fan will run for about 20-30 seconds and it will clean up the dust.

If the problem occurs again, it's probably time for a new SATA hard drive.

• Remove any obstructions from the vents.
• Allow at least 4 inches of clearance on all sides for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Remove the PLAYSTATION 3 from any cabinets so it is out in the open.
• Shut the PLAYSTATION 3 down completely and let it cool down to room temperature, then try running it again.
• If the fan cannot be heard before the system shut down, the PLAYSTATION 3 may need to be sent in for service.
• If there is no airflow from any of the vents, the system may need to be sent in for service

sorry mate i cant fix it but my buddy has a problem with his also
his ps3 freezes even in the menu screen and during video chat it shuts off

try jigling the switch on the back
