SOURCE: Light bulb replacementR

A fridge light bulb is usually a 40 watt appliance bulb with a screw base. It is heavy duty to last in the temperature. If it is not easily accesible to unscrew and replace, there may be plastic cover to unsnap.

SOURCE: how to change a ge refrigerator light bulb

It snaps in place by lifting the plastic cover. Then when you replace push it in then down. It has two tabs one on each end.

SOURCE: GE GTS20ICNCC Refrigerator light bulb burns out quickly

Use the correct wattage bulbs. If they fail often then you may need to get it checked by an electrician.
Filament bulbs easily burn out. What you can do is to buy cheap bulbs and replace as soon as they burn. This is the problem which is why tube lights and LEDs were invented!

SOURCE: Replacing Light bulb in a Frige

Open refrig door, look at control panel, on each end of control panel there should be philip screws holding panel, remove screws, drop panel down slowly, replace light. Install in reverse order.

SOURCE: There was a power surge at my house and it blew

Lori,  As simple as this sounds. Try turning off the circuit breaker to your refrigerator, unless it's easily accessible to reach the outlet (plug). Basically, you're turning off the power again. Give it about 10 seconds, and then turn the power back on. Hopefully, this resets icemaker. I'm not sure, but I would always turn off power to the refrigerator whenever work needs to be done (and that includes light bulbs).  Without going further, try this first. I believe this will work. If not, feel free to contact me again - and then we'll go from there. Good Luck to you, and I hope this works for you

Hi! What can be a problem if the new good bulb is not working??

if you know it is a good bulb, unplug the refridgerator. remove the bulb from the socket. in the bottom of the socket, there is a brass tab. it contacts the solder tip on the end of the bulb. sometimes when you change brands of lightbulbs, the new bulb will be just a bit shorter than the previous one. you will need to pull that tab in the socket up just a bit, so it will contact the tip of the bulb. you can sometimes get your finger in there, or you may need to use a dental pick with a 90 degree tip. i did say to unplug the fridge first right? dont break it, just bend it up a little bit.

How the heck do you replace a simple lightbulb in the refrigerator of a ge ss double door? Very irksome that something that used to be so simple many people now have to ask for help.

I just looked at mine... it's a GE Profile as well and what I see is a plastic cover with the two temperature dial settings and the light behind the plastic cover. Once I removed everything from the top shelf, I simply reached to the back and under the plastic cover at the bottom and I was able to grab the light bulb and unscrew it with ease. It may look more difficult than it actually is.
