it does not open with the remote?the stricker in the trunk is defective
(the actuator that activate the trunk),if you can open it with the key,the answer is here above!
I dont remember if that year had a theft lock system or not, but I am looking into it. disconnect the negative battery cable for ten minutes and that should get you back to where you can enter the unlock code again and use the radio.
If you look in the trunk compartment on the right side pull back the carpet trace a wire down into the floor pan of the trunk with a ten pin connector that is the cd changer connector they are all prewired with them in the trunk.
Likely have a Monsoon radio system in your 2000 Beetle. The CD changer is controlled by your radio, and not any CD changer will connect to the outlet in your trunk. You can either find a CD changer on eBay (or elsewhere, or swap out your radio for a radio from a newer VW Beetle that has a CD player installed instead of the cassette. Can also find those on eBay.
Press the silver button just below the Hazard button on the dash in front of the gear shift lever. The area will magically open to reveal the CD changer. Hope this helps. (Rick the Mercedes Expert at www.TexasOnlineAuto.com).
I just took a 6 CD changer out of my 1993 Audi with a Gamma Bose CC as well as the adapter box. I am interested in selling it (I traded the car). If you are interested in the changer, let me know and we can exchange contact information.
