Hi ,
Try starting in safe mode by repeatedly hitting F8 or just shutting down your machine when blue screen appears . If this works , use the recovery option to go back in time to previous installation .
You also can use your Windows install disc .
I can't help you further on without full details .
Best regards .
May seem unhelpful but get rid of vista upgrade and all of your issues will be resolved if you upgrade to windows 8 using upgrade tool it will keep all of your data
It means your operating software does not work properly. If possible, you can download Norton Utilities from CNET.com, install it and run it. If is not possible, then you need to remove the hard drive and repair it using another computer. The last way: read the hard drive using another computer, copy all of the important data to your other computer/storage, and later you can restore the software (to the original condition, when you received this computer) or reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system and all of the applications.

Error code? When does the error appear? Does it go away after reboot?
