I just bought a scanner "all lock out" is on screen

All scanners come with the scanning head locked to prevent damage to it during shipping. On the back of the scanner, where the power cord and wires connect, there will be a sliding switch, sometimes a turning type lock, with two positions, one with the icon of a closed [so locked] padlock and the other with the icon of a open [so unlocked] padlock. Every scanner I have bought describes this lock in the setup manual.

The scanner may have a locking lever that locks the scanner head so you can transport it without damaging the scanner head.
Locate the locking lever and unlock the scanner head.

just check the scanner lock & rlease
exist at lower side of scanner assy (inside the paper exit area)

It can also be the ribbon cable connecting the scanner to the formatter board. Check that it is connected properly.

The scanner lock is actually a physical locking mechinism. It is not a control panel option.
the scanner is locked in a safe position before they ship the unit to prevent damage to the scanner.

I believe that this sliding latch can be located ( while looking straight at the unit ) on the under side of the scanner, above the area where the paper comes out, more to the left hand side.

locate the latch and slide it from the locked position to the unlock position.

Press stop/clear button to clear the error and try again.

Hi your scanner may be locked. if on the screen it has a small K/L symbo, then it is locked. to unlock it press the lock button and it should go away. now press the L/O key if there is a little L/O key that is on the screen. this should unlock out the channel. hope this helps A.Ryan [email protected]
