GSL22JFRE BS not cooling. I need help troubleshoot my GE GSL22JFRE BS cooling issue. I found a temporary fix from this website by open up the "frosting-panel" in the freezer and blow-dry out the ice. It will work for 5-7 days then it not cool again. Thank you in advance for any help. Ray

Thank you Vic, it was the defrost heater. I called GE and they have the heater for 99$ included labor; it's a special deal for this particular model, the rep told me. Thank you fixya, one more problem fixed.

Hi, Ifwhat you are getting is frost, remove the rear panel again and locate the defrost heater. There will be two wires going to it and it is fastened to the bottom of the evaporator coil.Remove the two phillips screws holding the heater and pull it out to remove the wires. Check the element for continuity. If there is no continuity on the element, replace it. If the element shows ok, locate the bi-metal switch that is fastened at the top of the evaporator coil. Test it and make sure it has continuity. NOTE: the bi-metal must be tested while it is cold.
The most common problem with this model is the defrost heater.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

You are welcome. That is a great price for repair. The heater is the most common issue.

I'm really pissed. Ive had my fridge fixed twice and its still doing the same thing. The freezer is not self defrosting and the fridge part is not getting cold. it was fixed profressionly two months...

Either the defrost control is bad or the heater is bad, Only two things that could be happening, ice building up on the evap. coil needs to be removed by defrosts cycles, not happening. Find a better Tech.

GE side-by-side PS123SGMD BS won't cool

Check the door seals to be sure they are in good working order. Close both doors on a dollar bill at several locations all around the door and pull on the dollar bill. You should have resistance as you pull it out in every area you check. If you have any gapped areas and it slides easily, adjust the door or replace the seals. Also, is the circulation fan in the freezer working correctly? Lastly, unplug the unit for 5 minutes to allow the control module to reset itsef. Then plug it in again and reset your temps, clock etc.

Sounds like a switch issue. Suggest obtain a volt/ohm meter and test the switches and circuits for shorts.
