Water is leaking into the refrigerator from the freezer it seems to be worse when the ice maker is on

if it's worse with the ice maker on i'd have to say the ice maker is leaking but normally the water is from a blocked drain in the freezer.unplug it,remove everything out of the freezer, pull off the inside back wall of the freezer, melt out all the ice with a hair dryer, next you'll see a hole under the evap coil, that's the drain, you have to free it up,i use a steemer to blow down through the drain but if you don't have a steemer keep heating up the area where the drain hole is,you can try using a turkey baster to blow through the drain, when you think the drain is clear pour hot water into the drain hole,if it goes down you're done,if it doesn't keep heating it until the water drains down the hole.also open the fridge door,in the top of the fridge in the middle of the ceiling and where it touches the back wall you'll see a mold, that's also the drain, heat that area up with the hair dryer to melt out the ice in the drain.the problem is slime builds up in the drain, when the fridge goes into defrost the heater comes on and melts the ice off of the evap coil and the water goes down the drain and into the drip pan on the bottom of the fridge, your drain is blocked and the water is leaking into the fridge, the drain has to be cleared.good luck with your machine.if i can help you with anything else let me know.

Ice forms under tray in freezer - then water drips into refrigerator - this has been going on for at least 3 years - and we are at wits end trying to keep the drain from freezing up - what to do - the...

Whirlpool has a kit to stop the drain from plugging up. You mount a metal tab on the heater and it is long enough to slip down into the drain. When the heater comes on some heat gets transferred into the drain hole and keeps it from ice blockage. fed15be.jpg

My LG GR 620RW fidge keeps freezing a layer of ice in the freezer. I have totally melted all the ice but I don't know why it keeps doing it again. How do I clear the hose at the back to properly drain it....

LG's design requires a drain heater element, to melt the ice that normally occurs due to the design. If this element fails, the drain clogs with ice, and so does the floor of the freezer, and then the floor in front of freezer.

Freezer leaks into the refrigerator every couple of days

YOUR DRAIN IS PLUGGED. DEPENDING ON THE MODEL ALOT OF THEM HAD A DRAIN CUP IN THE BACK TOP OF THE FRESH FOOD SECTION. YOU COULD REMOVE IT TO CLEAN LOOK FOR A OPENING FROM THE FREEZER FLOOR TO THE FRESH FOOD TOP THAT IS WHERE YOUR DRAIN CUP SHOULD BE ALLWAYS UNPLUG IT FIRST

Leaking water from kenmore freezer to refrig below

its possible that the drain pan behind the back freezer wall is clogged or coverd with ice, sounds like when unit goes into defrost melt water leaks under sides of drain pan and into fridge. unplug and remove back freezer wall if drain is covered with ice defrost the ice, can be prevented by loosely coiling a piece of solid copper wire around element and into drain slightly radiant heat during defrost should keep drain fromicing over. if drain is just clogged wth debris clean drain and you should be good to go, hope this helps you.

Thin layer of ice on the floor of my whirlpool top mounted freeze

common issue.....sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine

Roper Refrigerator, top freezer leaking water into refrigerator

This is usually caused by a plugged freezer drain. The back wall (or floor) of the freezer may come out to access the drain. Clear out anything visible and run a stiff wire thru it. Test with a cup of water. Hope this helps!

Whirlpool refrigerator with top freezer either model GR2 or 9FHTXT will not keep get cold

Sounds like the defrost drain has become iced over or clogged. This is why the ice builds up.
