When the brake releases and it stalls right out, usually a sign that the coil is getting the signal to stop the engine. You have a faulty ground or faulty coil wire. Check safety switches as well... if there's one under the seat, unplug it...
www.shopyourway.com > Manage My Life > Questions Scenario 2: Engine started, as above in scenario 1 and manaul brake lever is engaged. Again ... Lawn Tractor stalls after engaging blades or releasing brake .... I am goingto replace that anyway but it almost seems my problem is electrica
Hi, It would be more helpful to know make and model of lawn tractor. But lets try take some steps. I assume the tractor is in neutral when started and in gear when release brake pedal? So does it stall when you release brake pedal when in neutral? If not then its not. We can start checking why. Does it stall from working the engine or just shuts off? If it just shuts off then it is a switch. If it truly stalls then a park brake is on or tranny is jammed. Jack drive tries off the ground. See if you can turn tires in neutral. If you can't look for a park brake lever. And while jacked up check all your belts. To see if any are pinched. That is another problem sometimes. The drive belt gets pinched.
you have a safety switch malfunctioning or a transistorized relay not working properly. Go to www.partsdirect.com, this is sears website. It should be able to find and illustrated parts list for your mower.
