Compressor starts and turns off continuously
SOURCE: THERMOSTAT TURNS FAN ON AND OFF, BUT COMPRESSOR
There is no fuse near the compressor on the roof. The only thing on or near compressor is the thermal cutoff switch either located on the top of the compressor or the side (depending on the model). You can check the thermostat rather easily with a 12V Test Light (available at most automotive stores) or a voltmeter.
Take the face plate off of the tstat. You should have a 6 wires or so (again, depending the model or part number of the unit and the tstat). If you turn the thermostat to high/cool, the yellow from the thermostat should have power to it. This is the cool setting. If there is no 12V going to the yellow wire, then you have a bad thermostat. If there is power, then you need to get up into the control unit of the AC and see if you have power at the yellow wire there. If you do not, then there is a problem in the wiring in the wall. If there is power, then you may have a bad control board.
There is a relay on the control board that controls the compressor. If you turn the unit to High/Cool and you do not hear the relay clicking, then you have a bad board.
You may want to get a tech to take a look at it, it can get complicated.
Hope this helps,
Jeff

Motor Trouble Cause
Diagnostic Procedure
Repair Procedure
Electrical Power is Off
Check that all service switches for the equipment are in the "on" position.
Check for voltage at the pump motor or pump controls. If no voltage is found, check for voltage at the electric panel.
If power is on to the building, check fuse or circuit breaker serving the electric motor that won't run.
Check for local reset button on the motor (popped out = off )
Check for other power reset or power off buttons such as an access
door compartment safety switch that turns off power to the equipment
(found on A/C blower compartment doors)
Turn on "off" switches.
Replace bad fuse. Reset circuit breaker; if necessary replace bad circuit breaker.
Let hot electric motor cool down, then push in its reset button.
Be sure all safety interlock switches such as on compartment doors
are depressed and that the doors are securely shut. Replace a bad safety
switch.

CIRCUIT BREAKER FAILURE
ELECTRIC PANEL INSPECTION
Blown fuse, tripped breaker
Replace fuse or breaker - does the pump run and keep running normally?
Be sure proper breaker or fuse size in ampacity is installed - ELECTRIC PANEL INSPECTION
Low voltage to the motor
Check with VOM at the pressure control switch or at the motor wiring
Be sure the proper size of wire is used for the ampacity and length of circuit; Test for low voltage to the building.
Loose, improper, or broken motor wire
Check wiring against the motor installation manual diagram, check all connections for tightness, shorts, burns, damage
Rewire or repair or replace wWhen a sealed compressor motor has "burned out" this means that the internal wiring of the motor has become
irreparably damaged: the compressor motor windings may be burned and shorted together or shorted to the steel shell
of the motor, or the windings may have burned and simply become "open" or disconnected. If the motor has burned
out in either of these ways it needs to be replaced.
4 way flat molded connectors allow basic hookup for three lighting functions; right turn signal / stop light (green), left turn signal / stop light (yellow), taillight / license / side marker (brown) and a ground (white).

4 way trailer side.
5 Way Systems
Same as 4 way system listed above but adds a extra blue wire for brake signal or auxiliary power. Used on pop up camper trailers or utility / boat trailers.

6 Way System, Rectangle Plug
3/4 inch by 1 inch 6 way rectangle connectors right turn signal (green), left turn signal (yellow), taillight (brown), ground (white). The red and blue wire can be used for brake control or auxiliary. Use on a small motorcycle trailer, snowmobile trailer or utility trailer. Can also be used as custom wiring on trailers with 3 light/wire systems. See "Tow Vehicle Taillight Wiring" below.

6 Way Systems, Round Plug
Round 1 1/4" diameter metal connector allows 1 or 2 additional wiring and lighting functions such as back up lights, auxiliary 12v power or electric brakes. Note: The black (sometimes red) 12v and blue electric brakes wire may need to be reversed to suit the trailer. Check with a test light or VOM. Uses: horse trailer, travel trailers, landscaping trailer, car trailer, etc.
6 way tow vehicle side.
6 way trailer side.
7 Way Systems
Round 2" diameter connector allows additional pin for auxiliary 12 volt power or backup lights. Uses: heavy duty landscaping trailer, car trailer, boat trailers, horse trailer, travel trailer, construction trailer, etc. Check with a test light or VOM.
