I have a kitchenaid superba disposal and sometimes it won't turn off. I have to throw the circuit breaker. Is there a switch on the disposal that will turn it off?

The motor is shorted, replace disposal.

Our 1HP Kitchenaid batch disposal does not turn off when the metal plug is removed. It runs for several minutes on it's own.

We are having a problem with the actuator. once the the disposer is started it won't stop unless we turn off the breaker. is this fixable, or do we need a new unit?
