Washer making loud noise and having a hard time agitating

Is the noise a thumping noice? How old is the washing machine? Did it just all of a sudden start making the noise? Have you tried running machine for a cycle empty? If so is the noise still there?
several explanations for noise,
I assume when you say agitating it is a top loading machine.
so 'hard time agitating' meaning the agitator is slow? Or skips?
try running machine with nothing in it and report back.

Clothes getting twisted around agitator

That does not sound good. New dogs sound great, but you must get to the bottom of why the clothes are becoming twisted on the agitator. Usually not enough WATER. Think loose flow of clothes submerged.
Long story short, you cannot jam pack this machine. Less clothes, more water, will equal long life.
Be sure that the mating teeth for the dogs, is not damaged. Slipping here would make loud noise.
More water, less clothes.

Agitator only moves a little bit and making noise

Most likely agitator dogs / gears are stripped out inside agitator. If it's a double action agitator where the top turns independently from the bottom, the top should turn one way and not the other. If top of agitator turns freely in either direction, then replace those dogs. If it's a single action agitator, then grooves that slide onto transmission shaft in agitator itself could be stripped out. If that's the case, replace agitator

Have a constant noise when dryer is running. Best description of the noise sound is, it is a similiar sound like the washing machine is in agitation mode....any ideas what the problem might be??

your felt pads front and rear are worn out these dryers do not use bearings instead they use a strip of felt for the drum to ride on replace these and the noise will go away

Whirlpool washer agitates but makes a very loud noise

It sounds like the agitator teeth, that are plastic, are worn out. To check this, take the agitator cap off with a strong knife or flat-head screw driver, and check the circular teeth inside, to see if they are worn out. These plastic teeth are the agitator part of the washer, where as the spinning part is a metal set of teeth, at the bottom of the agitator. You see the metal teeth, when you take the agitator completely out. You will have to replace the agitator if the teeth are worn out.
