Red horizonal line on kindle screen - Compaq Presario M2000 Notebook

I had something similar happen to my Asus Memo 10. In order to get past it I had to turn off the Asus interface gui. The process requires a factory reset and you will lose all your data so first back everything up. I don't know the process for Kindle to reset the factory image but I'm sure you can find it online.

First off, I've had 5+ of that type of kindle. Each time the screen was cracked causing the screen to not turn on. If you see any lines this is definitely your problem. If so, you can either replace the screen or replace the kindle.

There are companies who will replace the screen for about the same price as a brand new Kindle BASIC. personally I would suggest:
- buy a new Kindle BASIC for 59gbp;
or
- download any of the FREE kindle apps and just finish your library reads for free whilst you look around for a replacement.

If you want a TABLET rather than a eReader remember ANY tablet will download the free Kindle app so you can read your books on a Fire or a ASUS or a NEXUS or a iPad or anything really :)

Try resetting your Kindle by pressing and holding the power switch for 20 seconds - if this doesn't help, then you may need to contact Kindle Support for help with getting a physical repair done.

It's easy. Go to your Kindle's "HOME" screen, then use the Scroll Wheel to go to the menu and select "Content Manager."

Once you are in the Content Manager, select the Book or Books you want to remove by clicking next to that line with the Scroll Wheel (an "X" will appear in the box to the right of your selections). The scroll down to the menu line at the bottom of the screen, choose "Remove Selected Items," and confirm when your Kindle double-checks with you.

This is called Field Collapse and usually caused by the frame/field output going open circuit and/or the componants that surround that part.

Call a service centre in your locality who put it right (:-)

check all your solder connection and test the resistors on the conversion IC's , also check oscilating circuts

if they are at left side of screen, change r701, c268 move focus wires as far as possible from the red crt
