Ipod nano 2gb screen locked

I have a ipod nano 2gb silver colour. The screen is been locked. Even the display has gone. Can u help me out with this problem, as to how to unlock it.?

Make sure power switch is on.

Press and hold center button.
next press and hold "menu" on the ring.

When a Apple logo appears on the screen let the buttons go.

is it locked with the lock feature ?
or frozen?

if it's the lock feature u have to use itunes to unlock the nano.
