SOURCE: return fuel nipple is broke from finger pump

The part previously recommended is not the correct part if it is the return line that is bad. Return line does not use the filter. If yours is like all the Ryobi units that I have seen you just need a piece (about 3-4" needed, but buy extra.) of 1/8 ID fuel line. You can usually order that from parts suppliers. Hardware stores will not have it. There is a fitting with a hose barb on it that fits through the tank. On the outside of the tank on the bottom there will be a round plastic ring, assuming the fitting is still in place and just the hose split at the fitting. Use a knife or thin blade of some type to pry off ring. It is actually around the hose that is over the barb. Keep ring, you will need again. Now push fitting up into the tank. You may have to trim off the hose that is outside the tank on the barb to get it to go into the tank. Shake tank around and get fitting out of tank. You will see there is a piece of hose on it yet. Remove that piece of hose. Now take the new hose and slide it onto the barb. It must go all the way to the top of the barb fitting so that the hose actually goes into the tank through the hole drilled in the tank. The OD of the hose acts as the seal to keep gas from leaking out of the tank. You may need to put some oil of some type (vegtable oil works well) on the barb and inside of hose to help slip it on and use some pliers with smooth or rounded jaws ( no serrations, will damage hose) to get hose on. Thread other end of hose into the fill hole of the tank and out the hole in the bottom of the tank. Hint: Straighten out paper clip or use small wire inserted into the hole from the bottom of the tank up towards the fill opening. Slip tube over that and use the wire to guid the tube directly to the opening. Pull hose through the tank. When fitting with barb and hose over it reached the hole in the tank it will resist being pulled through. Carefully pull firmly on hose to strech it so the hose/fitting "bulge" pulls into the hole in the tank. Look into tank and see when top flange of fitting is tight agains the bottom inside of tank. You should see bottom of barb outside of the tank with the hose on it. Once in place put the plastic retainer ring back over hose and push up to bottom of tank. It should fit snuggly when you get to the "bulge" area. Cut hose length as needed to fit onto straight tube fitting on primer bulb. Should be good to go. You may find that the other hoses are getting bad also and may want to change them at the same time, as they will probably be ready to crack also. You can reuse filter from tank if it is not plugged, just add a new hose as described previously. Otherwise you can order a new filter with the line already on it. That is the part that was recommended to you earlier. That line goes directly to the carb inlet barb. That barb is also hard to push hose on. Third line is from the return side of the carb to the suction side of the primer bulb. That is just a straight piece of 1/8" ID hose and pushes onto straight tube fittings, very easy to get hose on compared to barb fittings.

Hope this helps. Contact me if you have any questions.

SOURCE: Hi, My weed wacker will only run on full choke.

Look on the carb for 2 screws side by side. where those screws go into the carb, it will be stamped with an "H" and "L". Open the screw that is next to the "H", counterclockwise about 1/4 turn at a time with the engine running, that should solve it.

I need the fuel line routing diagram for a Craftsman Model No. 358.791510 Weedwacker 32cc/1.9 cu.in. 2-cycle

hello sir, routing fuel line for craftsman, homelite, ryobi, hedge and line trimmers, fuel tank under engine, looking at machine from rear, shall fuel line on left with filter attached goes to bottom port of carb, fuel line from right side coming out of tank with inside tip attached goes to bottom port of primmer bulb, top line on primmer bulb goes to top port of carb, fuel tank under engine, fuel line routing, looking at machine from left side, left fuel line coming out of tank(drain back only) goes to right side small port of primmer bulb, left side larger fuel line from primmer bulb to top port of carb, fuel line coming out of tank (larger line) on the right side with filter attached goes to bottom port of carb, when replacing fuel line it is very important to use the same ID and OD line the homelite takes a special line that is black in color and a bigger size, the bigger line is ID .08-OD140 small line ID3/32 X 3/16.when the lines dissolve small pieces will get in the carb clogging small passages and screen,it is advisable that you clean out carb, and use a new filter.hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you. if the filter has broken off of the line half way that is where you will run out of fuel, ``

I have a Ryobi 790R "E Z" and need to know how to

It is not too hard. Just make sure to cut the new fuel filter line long enough so that you can get ahold of it inside the fuel tank to install the filter. The fuel return line only has to go into the tank 1/2" or more to do it's job, so lenth is not a problem unless you wish to install one of the little nylon connectors on it's end so it doesn't pull OUT of the tank. That is optional.

The small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects directly to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then "pushes" any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Again, on the primer bulb, the longer nipple has a line going directly from it to the tank. This is the return line. The shorter nipple on the bub has a line from it going to the metering chamber side of the carb. If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body to small hole in tank with filter. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where sometimes the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. Otherwise, the line should enter the tank for about 1/2" or so

No gas getting from the gas tank to the carb. replaced hoses and filter already. can not even draw gas with primer button.

You either need a new primer bulb (leaking air) or you have the fuel lines routed wrong. Here is the correct fuel line routing just in case:
Small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. Need diagram for fuel line in tank fuel filter

The small diameter fuel line that has the fuel filter in the tank on it goes directly to the carburetor (with the built-in primer or externally mounted primer). IF the carb has the external primer, the small line goes to the nipple on the carburetor opposite the end with the hole in the cover. If it has the built-in primer on it, it goes to the carb body on the nipple furthest from the bulb. The large diameter line is the fuel return line and if the carb has the bulb on it, this line connects on the nipple closest to primer bulb.. With the externally mounted primer, this line connects on the longest nipple coming out of the primer and goes to the fuel tank (not the filter though). There is a nylon connector inside the tank that holds this larger line in place. The shorter nipple on primer bulb has a smaller diameter fuel line connected to it and connects to the nipple on the carb closest to the end with the hole in the cover. Built in primer has 2 fuel lines...externally mounted has 3.

I am replacing the fuel tank assy and purge bulb (i.e. primer) on my Sears Craftsman model 358.798940. The original plastic tubing was old and brittle and broke apart while disassembling, so I could not...

The order of fuel travel should be:
Fuel filter to fuel hose to Carb's Fuel Supply nipple. (On the main body of the carb)
Primer Plate Nipple on carb to fuel hose to Suction Nipple on Primer Bulb. (It must pull fuel thru the carb, not push)
Pressure Nipple on Primer Bulb to fuel hose to Fuel Tank Return hose.

When correctly installed, the fuel will be PRESSED into the fuel tank via the return hose when primer is pressed in . . . and SUCTIONED out of the tank and into the Carburetor when primer in released.

Hope this helps,

I have a roybi 31cc weed eater and the fule line has become brittle and has broken apart. I need to know the layout of the new plastic fule line. I purchased a new fule line at Lowe's. I do not know wich...

STEP (1) The fuel supply line has the filter attached inside the fuel tank. The other end of that line goes on the carburetor's SUPPLY NIPPLE.

STEP (2) Determine the primer bulb's flow direction by pumping it under water. The unused nipple on the carb (IF STEP 1 WAS DONE CORRECTLY THERE IS ONE UNUSED NIPPLE STILL AVAILABLE ON THE CARB) will have a section of fuel line attached to it and running to the SUCTION NIPPLE (or pull-side, as some techs call it) of the primer bulb.

STEP(3) The final piece of fuel line goes from the OUTPUT NIPPLE (or push-side, as some techs call it) of the primer bulb and is routed back into the fuel tank as a return.

If plumbed properly, the primer should PULL fuel thru the carb and NOT pump any fuel into the engine. Excess fuel should be pumped back into the tank on each and every press of the primer.

Hope this helps!

Craftsman 32cc Weedeater -- need fuel line diagram

The smaller diameter line (fuel supply) goes from the fuel tank (w/filter) to the carb body. Another larger line (purge line) goes from carb body to the right nipple on the primer bulb. Another large line (return line) goes from the left nipple of the primer bulb into the fuel tank. co0mpleting the purge circuit. This info pertains to my 2006 Craftsman 32cc with Zama carb.
