I have an older 4x2 gator.sometimes when I go to take off it makes a squealing noise like the brake is on and if it goes about 15 feet it will quit. and it feels like the brake is on.

If a brake is binding try driving in a straight line on tarmac, lightly grip the steering wheel and brake firmly. The gator will 'pull' toward the binding brake. So pulling left is a left side brake and pulling to the right is a right side brake.
Another test is to chock a wheel and safely jack up each wheel enough to clear the ground and turn each wheel by hand. A binding wheel will feel tighter or won't turn at all.

2004 John Deere Gator CS

The voltage regulator/rectifier will not affect the starting. Pull a plug wire off, turn the key to try to start to check for spark. If it has no spark, replace the coil pack or make sure it hasn't rusted between the flywheel and the coil contact. You can get more detailed info for small engine spark and coils on you tube.

Van dies after 10 min drive when pulling into

Try removing the idle speed motor on side of throttle body, and spray it clean, as well as the port it came out of, with throttle body spray cleaner. Don't pull and extend shaft of idle motor, just leave it in position it's in, and make sure you don't lose small "O" ring on idle motor. Re-install and try it. If it cures it for a while, then starts to do it again, replace the idle speed motor.
