I have a 6 year old Kenmore Elite top freezer.. I have been dissapointed from day one with this fridge.. the fridge has air vents all over the inside of the fridge. We find that if one of these vents have anything in front of it that something somewhere else in the fridge will freeze. Its very frustrating.. I find that I loose allot of fridge space because I am always juggling space to make sure that these vents are always open... very bad design.. sounded like a good idea at the time.. but never again..

most likely it is the heater un plug the heater coil and check coil with ohm meter

I am relly familiar with the PSS26MSRSS but some models are different. That model has an arraingment of thermistors located is several places that sens signals to the motherboard through the control panel. The control panel has these that branch out like temperature probes. Some models have electric dampers that get stuck or told to open very wide because one of the thermistors/thermostat probes is being blocked by food storage or just simply defective. sounds like the flap that u can usually hear once the ice has stoppped coming out it sounds like a pop or thud ...what happens is the magnet goes bad and keeps the ice maker constantly open to the outside air causing ice melting and massive ice cubes.....usually a costly repair...check and lemme know

ps. id have a licenced repair guy check it out

fresh food thermister should be checked. also the damper assembly that regulates cold air from freezer to fresh food side.

I also have the same refrigerator model 106.56566400 and periodically when the power goes off in the house the refrigerator & freezer will stop cooling. Try pushing the on/off button located inside the refrigerator to the left of the digital temperature controls. Hold the button down, this turns the unit off, then press it again to turn it back on. This basically resets the refrigerator, and most of the time works to get the refrigerator cooling again. Try this first before calling a repair man.
