My printer wont print and I keep getting a message on my computer saying that the printer is in a "ERROR STATE"
If you still have a Printer in error state Windows 10 with the printer then you can attempt to upgrade or reinstall the drivers of the printer on your PC. Follow the method below to find out how to reinstall Windows 10 computer printer drivers:
Step (1): Open Device Manager first by right-clicking the Start menu, then select Device Manager option from the Power User menu.
Step (2): Expand Printers on the Device Manager, then select your printer from the list. Then right-click the printer driver and select Uninstall from the menu
Step (3): The notification "You are about to uninstall this machine from your system" will now appear on your screen. Just press the OK button to continue.
Step (4): Reboot your system once the printer controllers have been uninstalled. After rebooting, the printer drivers will automatically be installed by Windows 10 PC.
Reinstalling printer drivers will solve Canon Printer In Error State issues as when connected via duplicate port, the printer is in error condition.
Then its time to throw your printer in the "ERROR"

The problem occurs when the paper tray is pushed down too far and 2 flimsy stop tangs on the backside of the tray hinge break off. The one on the left side contacts a microswitch, pushing it forward , signaling the printer tray is open. When the left tang breaks off, there is nothing to press the switch. You can try bending a paper clip in a fashion that hold the switch forward.
OR (the following will probably void your warranty)
Unplug the printer
Pull out the envelope tray on the bottom.
Set the printer on its back
Look just behind the bottom of the tray door from the underside
There are 2 wells on the underside. The front most wells are more square-shaped.
The 2 wells behind the are irregular-shaped. These 2 have the cover release tangs. Take a long, thin #1 flat blade screwdriver and push them outward toward the sides of the printer to release the 2 inside catches.
Next, push the screwdriver into the 2 rectangular release holes on the bottom sides of printer (beneath little arrows) to release the side tangs.
Next, release the rear tangs in similar slots in the back of the printer.
Gently lift up the cover. Lift up the electronic module on the left side.
The output tray wicroswitch is the black one on the bottom of the electronics module fix it in the upper position with either a small zip-tie or good electrical tape (the top one signals that the top cover is open to expose the ink cartridges, leave it alone).
Carefully reassemble the printer, hopefully it will work.
Remember to open the tray when you print as the preventing switch is no longer functional.
Good Luck.

OK, Boys and Girls...here finally is the complete answer to the problem of the waste ink tank counter reset for Canon i250 and i350 printers.
1. Disconnect printer from AC power (take out AC cord or power off your power strip). Disconnect USB PC cable from printer.
2. Press and HOLD the POWER button (untill step 7).
3. Reconnect power cord (turn on power) to the printer.
4. The indicator should be green.
5. Press and release the RESUME button , the indicator should be orange.
6. Press and release the RESUME button again, the indicator should be green.
7. NOW Release POWER buttons.
8. NOW Connect the printer to PC (USB cable).
9. NOW...I opened "Printers" and saw that a "copy" of my printer (i250 or i350) had been made. Make that COPY your default printer and all should work...It did for me.
You May Thank Me NOW!!!!
I must say...I went into the "GUTS" of the beast and cleaned out the PADS (they are actually vacuum pads that the INK is sucked through during a HEAD cleaning) a very messy undertaking.
I'm not sure how much life this will add to your printer.
Good Luck
