Primer bulb on weedeater won't prime

I've got a 1 year old troybilt weed trimmer. The primer bulb pulls a suction instead of pushing fuel to the carb. I changed the original, but to no effect. I also disassembled the carb. I looked clean with no obvious damage to any parts. Any ideas?

When you prime the bulb it sucks gas from the tank with the small tube, any excess gassed pumped will be fed back to the carb via the big tube leading to the tank. If you prime it and the bulb stays pushed down, then you have a clog or kink. To fix , pull the small tube out of the tank through the fill hole. Pull off the filter on the end and put the tube back in the tank. If it primes, your fuel filter was clogged. If it still wont prime check the hose going to the carb and make sure isnt clogged or kinked.(take of carb and blow in it). If that doesnt fix it take off the bulb from the carb with two screws. The bulb assembly will come off too(rectange metal thing) Take off the two black gaskets, be carefull with them. Take off hoses from carb and bulb asembly. Blow carb cleaner in all holes and over surface. Put back together.
If the carb wont prime and the bulb isnt staying depressed. then you might have a bad bulb or carb gaskets. Make sure hoses are not cracked, cloged, or pinched.

I replaced my primer bulb on my craftsman weedeater an am not sure what line goes where on the primer bulb can you help also not the gas leaks out of carb hole where

In regards to which pipe goes where, it's simple. If you pump your primer bulb with the pipes off, one side will suck and the other side will blow. The suction side will link to the outlet on the carb. The blow side will link to the return to tank. The fuel line with the filter on it will link to the inlet pipe on the carb.

Homelite weed trimmer bogs down and smothers out quits running

This could be a number of things. Clogged air filter/fuel filter/carburetor/fuel tank lid breather hole, cracked fuel line or primer bulb, or clogged spark arrestor in muffler. Here's some links that will help to change the bulb, fuel cap, fuel lines, rebuild carb, replace spark arrestor, and troubleshoot.

Primer does not work

Bulb or fuel line could have a crack or a clog in fuel line/filter or carburetor. Here's a video on how to change the bulb and fuel lines and another video on how to clean/rebuild the carburetor.

Primer bulb on weedeater sticks after primeing

The primer pulls fuel from the carb, so if it sticks in there is a blockage in either the fuel filter in the tank, or in the carb itself, or the hose is trapped.

I'm trying to get an old weedeater/poulan 22" excalibur hedge trimmer running for my son. In the past someone has cut a fuel line going to primer bulb. I replaced that line and when I use the primer...

There are 2 different set ups for fuel lines on these 2 stroke carburetors. One has a remote primer/purge bulb and the other has the primer/purge bulb on top of the carburetor. Here are instructions on how both kind work and how to service them.

The small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects directly to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then "pushes" any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Again, on the primer bulb, the longer nipple has a line going directly from it to the tank. This is the return line. The shorter nipple on the bub has a line from it going to the metering chamber side of the carb. If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body to small hole in tank with filter. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where sometimes the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. Otherwise, the line should enter the tank for about 1/2" or so If you have any more questions, please post back. I will see your comment and be glad to help you,

I need a fuel line schematic for a WeedEater brand Featherlite Plus weedeater

Presuming the primer bulb is on top of the carb....Fuel filter line out of gas tank goes to the lower part if carburetor body. The other line (normally larger in size) coming out of the fuel tank goes to the primer bulb outlet on the top of carb.
If the primer/purge bulb is not on the carb, things are a little different. The fuel filter line out of the tank still goes directly to the carb, as the bulb will pull old fuel/air out of the carb allowing fresh fuel to flow in and pushes old fuel/air back to the fuel tank.
Fresh fuel in, old fuel out of the carb...you can hook up a piece of fuel line to the bulb and tell which one is pulling and which one is pushing..or depress it with your fingers on it...either way you can tell.

Craftsman 32cc weed eater wont start. Push in the primer bulb and it does not refill, stays stuck in!

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You willneed to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Makesure the small screen is free of debris.(Should be able to see daylightthrough it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Weedeater starsts and ildes won't run or accelerate

Make sure your gas supply is fresh...not from last year...
Secondly, clean and service the air filter element... you may need to reoil it before installation...check your manual.
Disconnect the fuel line and drain it and what little is in the carb...push on the prime bulb if it's got one...
Then with a clean air filter and fresh gas... give it a start and after start, disengage the choke..
Let me know how you do..
