I have checked continuity of every part of this dryer- still no heat. I am far from an electrician, and would like some detailed description on how to check volts on terminal block and pigtail- does it need to be running when I check terminal block? Wires were a little loose on terminal block connection but does not appear to be burned on either block or pigtail. Pllease help.
Check the following to address this issue.
1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses.
An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only
one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not
heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if
this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired
or replaced.
2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured
with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.
3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer
overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or
stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the
dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a
meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not
broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
To check the block put meter on 220 volts touch the end of the leads to the outside wires of block.. black and red... should give reading of 220V. IF no reading try one lead at a time with neg side of v meter on ground if you get a reading of 110 one side of the 220 is not coming thu and could be your problem
made sure u checked the hi limit fuse on burner for continuity also
If you Not getting a reading by checking at the wires hooked at the block on the dryer as posted above... both leads of meter ... one one red wire other lead on black.. should get a reading of 220Volts...
IF not your only getting one leg or half the 22O... 110 is all your getting .. dryer will run but NO HEAT!
No reading like posted above = NO Heat
IF no reading check receptical for 220 there check for loose wires or loose connectors look for anything that looks burnt

Hi,
If you are having problems with your
gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor
goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working
properly.
if
you dryer is gas check out this gas
no heat
tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can
have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to
heat.
check
out this electric
no heat

You really need a volt / ohm meter to check for Continuity & Volts
Its well worth the investment... $15.00 bucks give or take a few
I would check to see if you have 220v to back of dryer where the cord mounts to dryer,
If dryer is getting only 1 leg 110 volts instead of the 220 will it not heat.
Check themostates & heater for Continuity... Most models, Now have a.. Hi-limit fuses that need to be checked for Continuity

Replaced pigtail-still nothing. Am not getting ANY reading from my voltmeter on new pigtail or block, but dryer is turning. Problem with my voltmeter? Bad breaker on fuse panel? Thanks for your help on this.
I also gave the wrong model number it is LDE4914ACE
Our dryer stopped heating...still turns but no heat. We replaced the duct hose and cleaned filters, etc. The ground wire is not connected, looks like it never was, (this is my fiance's grandmother's house and dryer was there when she moved in) but would that prevent the dryer from heating?
