SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite 2410-PS241L laptop does not start.

Plug it into the electrical outlet and then turn on your laptop. if it comes on and works fine, then your battery is just simply dead, and if it will charge, just needs to charge. If not, then you are going to have to replace your battery. But assuming all of this is true, and your laptop will power on when using your electrical outlet, then yes, feel free to use it whenver you like when plugged in.

SOURCE: TOSHIBA LAPTOP SATELLITE A135-S4527 WON'T POWER UP

Not charging . . . And probably the power pin ... where the AC cord connects to thecomputer. That particular component is very fragile. The part torepair it runs between $ 5-$15 but the labor to repair it will costanywhere from $ 100-$250. It can be repaired by you if you are verycareful taking the system apart. Just pay attention to every detail ofyour dis-assembly. I also recommend you get one of these to stop the problem from happening a 2nd time.

SOURCE: I have a toshiba Satellite laptop that all of the sudden has started shutting down on me when I am in the middle of something. What could it be?

Depends. When you say it shuts down, do you mean it flashes blue and then shuts off / restarts, or just plain shuts off, and stays off?
If it is flashing blue real fast, then shutting off, here's what you do:
While starting the computer, press F8 as soon as the brand logo goes away, and keep pressing until you get a screen that says Safe Mode on it. Then highlight the Disable Automatic Shutdown option, and hit enter. Use the computer until you get the blue screen. It will give you an error message, followed by a stop code. (0x0000ce or something like that). Get that error code, and bring it back here. I'll tell you what it means.

If it is simply turning off without warning, and stays off, most likely it is overheating. In which case, head to Wal-Mart, go to the computer section where the keyboards are, and pick up a can of compressed air. Blow out the computer right where you see the vent on the side (maybe on back), and try that. If that doesn't work, get a laptop cooling pad and use that. If it still doesn't work, then the heatsink for the CPU needs to be recompounded, in which case take it to a shop. Unless that is you ABSOLUTELY know what you are doing and can do it yourself. IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN A LAPTOP APART BEFORE DO NOT ATTEMPT IT WITHOUT A PROFESSIONAL, YOU WILL BREAK IT.

Let me know how it goes, and i'll try to help you further if need be.

Boot off your windows installation disc and choose repair, windows will attempt to repair the startup if problems are discovered. When the repair is finished reboot normally.

That's just the way Windows works when power is cut off. You should set your Control Panel/Power settings to put the PC into hibernation if it's left alone for too long.

I am sorry. This problem is best solved by doing a complete system restore of you laptop.

Do you have the restore disk that came with it?

Toshiba Satellite A135 laptop

Try disconnecting power adapter and removing battery for two minutes. If the laptop still does not boot then there is an hardware problem. You can try taking out and putting back ram modules, but my suggestion is to take the laptop at a repair shop, if you cannot fix it by removing battery.
