Washing machine not draining and finishing cycle

I have a Fisher & Paykel washing machine which will not drain; therefore, it never finishes the cycle.

I've unplugged it several times (as recommended in the manual), but so far, that hasn't helped.

I've attempted to put it through the last cycles several times, but it always stops without draining.  Lights blink on and off and there is a constant beep.

I've checked both hot & cold hoses - they are on.

I cannot tell if any water is siphoning out of the washer because the hose is taped into the drain hole.

I hope you can help.

Thank you.

I had the same problem.... It would stop on the rinse cycle and beep.  Check to make sure you can hear the water pump running or if you can just hear an electrical hum and then it quits, it may be a problem with the water pump. The water pump can be accessed by removing the tub, reach down the center of the agitator and remove plastic bolt, remove the stailess steel tub and then remove the plastic oval shaped cover at the bottom of the main tub to access the pump impellor.  Make sure the impellor turns freely, if it does not you may have a problem with the pump motor.  We had a gold chain go missing and it showed up wrapped around the pump shaft causing it to bind at times.  It took me two tries to fix it but now it runs 100%.

Look at my issue under "eco smart won't drain, smells hot". On normal cycle, I couldn't get all the water to spin out and my problems just got worse until I had leaking on floor and motor burned up.

I had a sock that made it all the way into the drainage area above the motor. I couldn't see the sock when I looked between the plastic tub and the interior tub.

To remove sock, tip washer back, remove white plastic housing/black motor unit, and you can see into tub area where i found the sock. More explicit instructions on how to remove this unit are on my post "eco smart won't drain, smalls hot". Good luck! Ann

Just fixed my washer with this thread. Checked for blockages and clogs by removing the pump from undeneth the machine. Saw no clogs. Ran the self diagnose, and error code 37 came up. Pump error. Ordered a new pump online. Replaced it. Works great again now. Problem solved.

I had this same problem and it turned out to be a pair of shorts that ended up between the machine chassis and the large plastic bowl rather than inside the bowl, and they had become stuck in the moving parts of the pump.

1. Remove the top of the machine by removing the two screws at either side of the machine (they are covered with caps which first need to be removed).
2. Visually inspect the area between the machine chassis and the large plastic bowl. Pay attention to areas close to the pump. Use a torch if necessary.
3. Carefully remove the clothing so not to damage any parts of the pump. Use a pair of kitchen tongs if necessary.

It's not the pump. There is a diverter valve right by the pump. It needs replaced. It diverts the water back into the tub when rinsing and out when draining. Its stuck on in

So my machine was stuck on 18 mins, was not doing anything, I read this thread then simply blew up the tube that lets the water out. and It worked I think something must be stopping it and it probs will happen again the Last machine we bought a new pump only to find a hair grip stuck in the old pump.

I just fixed a F&P GW612. If there is a foreign object stuck in the drain pump it won't drain at the rice cycle. I found a bent darning needle stuck in the motor drain pump.I lay the machine down on its side on a soft mat, removed the motor pump from underneath & cleaned it out. (You could find a foreign object such as a coin, cloth, rubber band etc. See You Tube videos on how to do this.)
Put it back together & test if it's pumping out water at the rince cycle by doing a low water wash cycle.

SOURCE: Washing machine won't drain or finish cycle

It sounds like you have a drain pump stopped up or failed. Do you hear any noise when it is supposed to be draining? A humm or buzz?

Fisher and paykel washing machine top loader doesnt spin dry the clothes well. There isnt any water in the machine after the spin cycle but the clothes are heavy wet. What's could cause this?

Machine not spinning. Have you stood next to machine and listened? When all water is drained out (watch the drain hose for water to stop) then you should hear the spin start and hear it building up speed. If it doesn't then you need to post back here with more detail on what you could hear or see happening. i.e. how long after water stopped draining did machine finish and switch off?

If you can hear your pump running then your drain hose might be clogged, if not it is probably the pump and will need more in depth troubleshooting.
