Our new kenmore garbage disposal shoots the water up rather than sucking it down

Just install new one:

Try running ice cubes through it, it will make a lot of noise but that should clean it out. Please slowly run the cold water with the ice.
I do not like chemicals if they can be avoided. d

Which direction does disposal blade turn?
For example when looking straight-on at the nut holding power saw blade, the blade rotates counterclockwise, so the nut is reverse thread.
