Hi, according to Amazon (see link below), that model can be filled with either water or sand. My only thought was that water would be much easier to remove than sand if you ever wanted to empty out the tank.
I had the same problem with my 2001 Nissan Altima. I when to Spalding Auto Parts - Home of Quality New and Used Partswww.spaldings.com/ in Spokane, Washington 509-924-3300 and got the switches for the drivers door. Problem was solved. They do ship parts nation wide and warranty there used parts.
