Hello, I have a Sony SXRD KDS-R60XBR2. Last night after a power outage, the TV would seem to turn on like usual, green light starts flashing then becomes solid (still green), I hear the fan but there's no picture nor sound. I can tell the lamp is on as the screen is slightly lit when the room is dark, I also tried a brand new lamp with the same result. When pressing the on button i hear a clicking sound (like a relay) that i'm not sure was there before. Any ideas? Thank you!
These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.

Testimonial: "Hi, Thanks for your reply. However the light does not blink red at all. When I turn the TV on, the light behaves normally, i.e. it blinks green for a few and then turns and stays solid green. I just don't have any pictures nor sound..."

how many times does it blink pause then blink again?
SOURCE: I have a sony tv
I had the same problem last year and when I contacted the Sony repairman he looked it up and said it was the fan. He said the red light blinks 5 times to signal the fan is blown.(According to their booklet). He came and replaced the fan and it was as good as new. Good luck!

There are three fans the one that usually fails is located on top of the optical block and cannot be reached by the owner unless you take the set apart yourself. What is happening is that one of the fans are not spinning fast enough or has stopped altogether. The best solution is to replace all three fans cleaning may not be enough to get a slow fan up to speed, and the tech should blow out the dust in the duct work. This is what the tech coming out will (or should) be doing. Also some fans will have an intermittent startup, and cause this intermittently, so it is a good idea just to replace the fans instead of just cleaning them.

Symptom shows tv needs lamp replacement as existing lamp is reaching to end of its working life and causing that problem.
If you have not replaced lamp in last 2-3 years, replace it to fix the tv issue. I can explain why tv shuts down itself and turns back on.
I do not agree with info provided about bulged capacitors in power supply so please do not take off back of tv unnecessarily.
Lamp replacement procedure would be written in user manual and let me know if you need to download manual copy.
Thanks.

I have the same tv with exact same issue. Had power outage now no pic or sound. No red lights just blinking green about 40 times then solid green. Did you ever get a resolution? I had service guy here and he was basically clueless. I could replace part if I knew which one was bad. Please help can't afford new tv.
