My Lenovo U165 hung, and after waiting for the system to resume, the laptop suddenly freaked, screen went blue (with white text) for a split second, before the laptop restarted. What happened?

Remove all USB attached devices like drives.

  • Roll back system with System Restore. Win 7 - Start > Search type System Restore. XP - Is Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Restore. Now choose a date prior to problem. You may have to try a few dates.
  • Uninstall last program(s) that was installed, again in safe mode.

My neice has an acer aspire 5517. Turned it on and the screen is blank, no start menu or icons. How can I fix this?

Hi there, please restart your laptop when its booting press F8 key . You will find few option asking for selection. Select that by using up/down arrow key. Select " Last know good configuration" & press Enter. Next page asking for selecting operating system, for example: windows vista or Windows XP etc. Just select the operating system & press Enter again. ( Hope your laptop showing only one operating system ). Your laptop will start normally. After the if you seen the screen dark then press FN+Right arrow in key board(>). When you press FN + ( < ) or ( >) key that's time its working for brightness controlling for screen. Now if all well then fine other wise please let me know .
Another suggestion is run your Acer driver DVD for installing Display drivers. When finish restart your laptop and watch whats going. If no success then format the Operating system & reinstall again.

Thanks & waiting for your feedback

Okay my sony laptop windows vista crashed . it turns on but then it goes to a blue screen , i can get it to safe mode & i tryed disabling stuff but it like wont restart either , it goes from a blue screen...

Boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key on startup, once you're in safe mode, run the system restore tool (usually in start -> program files -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore) to a few days earlier and restore. After that, install an Anti-virus application, such as AVG Anti-Virus, and scan your computer to remove the problems.

Hope this help!
