I have a kenmore elite side by side. I bought it from someone and there is no model number anywhere on the refrigerator. I have replaced some parts i.e. the infared sensor which starts and stops the ice maker when ice bin is full, with only part numbers off the old parts.
The problem is that the ice maker makes ice, and the water comes out of the dispenser, but no ice from the dispenser. The light does not work either. Bulb is good. I have checked the voltage to the light and power is 80 volts on both sides when checked to ground.
Some time ago I thought I fixed the problem but just a fluke. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or know what the voltages are. I have part numbers which I can give you. When the light came on then the ice dispenser worked. The light when off no dispenser motor. If press the dispenser lock it shuts off the power to all controls, even if that are incorrect voltages.
When you operate the ice dispenser lever, you should be able to hear a little click from a micro-switch that then switches the auger motor and the light on and also opens the flap. If you cannot hear this small click, then the micro-switch is faulty. The ice dispenser only works when the freezer door is closed, so you could also inspect the door light/fan switch for proper operation.
