1)--In some refrigerators, the water from the defrost cycle is intentionally directed down the back wall of the refrigerator, where it then flows to the bottom of the refrigerator compartment and out to a small drain - usually located beneath one of the drawers at the bottom of the refrigerator. If the drain becomes clogged or blocked, the water may back up. To fix this problem, clear the obstruction. 2)--If the refrigerator is equipped with a water dispenser on the freezer door, check if the water line to the dispenser is leaking. Also, check the drip pan to be sure it isn?t out of place, broken or cracked.

Water leaking onto floor from underneath unit, instead of into the water reservoir.

It's not unusual for a refrigerator to drip a little water on the floor after you replace the water filter-air trapped in the water dispenser system can make the water dispenser drip enough to overflow the drip tray below the dispenser. You can fix it by streaming a gallon or two of water through the dispenser to eliminate the trapped air.
If water drips on the floor from the back of the refrigerator, a leaking water inlet valve or cracked water system tubing could be the cause. A clogged or cracked defrost drain tube could also cause the leak. Defrost condensate water collects in the drain pan at the bottom of the refrigerator so a cracked or overflowing drain pan can also cause water to drip on the floor behind the refrigerator. Check the drain pan for cracks and clean out any foreign objects that may be inside the drain pan.
Excessive frost caused by a leaking door seal can also cause the defrost drain pan to overflow. Check the door gaskets and replace them if damaged.

Water leaking under fridge

a contant runing of water is most likely a leak in the ice maker supply hose , an intermitant drip of water is a drip pan thats full in bottom of fridge (closest to floor ) this water comes from the auto defrost cycle most times this water evaporates away , but as fridge gets older it makes more frost that needs melted hence more water ,sometimes it over comes the pan and runs to floor , a good flashlight and getting down to look underneath usually tells you source of leak

I HAVE A MAYTAG AUTOMATIC ELECTRONIC DEFROST CONTROL REFRGATOR MODEL MSD2272VEB00. EVERY FEW DAYS WATER LEAKED FROM UNDER THE REFRIGERATOR ONTO THE FLOOR FROM WHAT APPEARS TO BE AT THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF...

Inside of the unit is a drain hole that will drain out water to the drip pan. The drip pan is located under the unit and it uses the heat of the motor to evaporate the moisture that collects in it. The drain hole is plugged. Go on youtube and you can watch a video on how to fix it. Very easy.

How do I remove the drip pan from under the freezer? It's full and leaking onto the floor?

There should be a decorative kick panel underneath that will snap out revealing the drip pan which will then slide forward and out to pour the water off.

Refrigerator is leaking on the ground

Assuming you are talking about water leaking, if it has a drip pan to catch condensation, it may be full and overflowing or missing a drip pan allowing water to fall to floor. If it has an icemaker and/or cold water dispensor, it could be a connection leak.

Drip pan needs emptying; had repairman out for other issues, now fridge keeps overflowing

The accumulated ice you saw is of course the source of the water. The refrigerator will eventually rid itself of the excess ice and the problem will therefore disappear on it's own after a while. The drip pan is normally filled with only a small amount of water, and that is dried up by the condenser cooling fan under the fridge. The pan is removable from most units, but not without making a mess. I suppose you can make and clean up the mess one time and be done with it.
