Craftsman DYT 4000, 24 hp 48" deck. While I was mowing, the blades stopped turning, started again, and then stopped. I shut down, all looked OK, tried to start and nothing. No click, nothing. Any ideas?

There is a fuse in engine compartment that might have blown causing the engine or blades not to start but what probably happened was something got caught in the blades check under the deck & see if there is & also try spinning blades by hand & see what happens

My blades will not engage. Just stopped while mowing. Model 917.273130. Seat operator present switch seems ok. Belt and pullies look ok. Blades not obstructed. Tractor starts and runs ok.

Check for a broken belt, then the cable and linkages and the pulleys on the deck. Sometimes the two smaller pulleys on the deck break. It should be evident when you put your hand on it and try to turn it.

The PTO switch contacts to operate the clutch that starts the blades is defective. I have replaced mine and the new one just failed again. Sears must know this is a defect problem but so far they are quiet about the problem

I have a 18.5 hp 42" electric start craftsman mower. when i went to engage the blades the lever was harder to move than usual and once it was engaged nothing happened. blades not turning! please help.

When you move the lever and engage the blades you are also engaging the belt that drives the blades and sits on top of the mowing deck. Chances are that belt either came off one or more rollers, or broke. The only way to check it out is to get down and look on the top of the mowing deck. Get back and let me know what you find.

Craftsman riding mower LT3000 blades won't engage/turn

Well, we wouldn't want to lose your little girl, but goats can be very lovable.

The problem could be it just needs lubricating. I'd first spray WD-40 on every part of that mecanism which moves, top to bottom, even inside the button on top and underneath the deck.

If that doesn't work, get back to me, please.

Look for your model number under the seat. Sears website is www.searspartsdirect.com. It sounds like a bearing may be wearing out, or a spring on one of the brake arms is not holding the brake arms off the pulleys;
Or an idler pulley is not holding tension on the belt.
There is not adjustment I know of, just replacing worn parts. Hope this helps. Good day.
