My sony bravia model KDL-46EX500 is three years old. It has worked fine until this morning when I tried to turn it on. The cable box and everything else comes on. I unplugged it for an hour, but it still did not come on. No green or red lights come on. I tried it with the tv's remote and the one I use from the cable company. I also tried to power it on from the tv itself. Help! I paid a lot of money for it and cannot afford to bring it somewhere.

Have you checked the power cord is firmly connected to the power source (wall plug? or wherever) and have you checked the cord connection into the tv?
Pull them off and reconnect
If the red (standby) light does not come on, then you have an internal problem and these cant be fixed without opening up the tv. Dont do it- it has to go to the dealer

Testimonial: "I had already done that. It didn't work. I just hate paying someone to fix it. I paid a lot for the t.v. and it should have lasted. I won't be buying Sony anymore. I have not had problems with other brands."

I had the same problem. The sound and picture went off for about one minute and the green power light flashed green. Then the TV came back on. It sometimes stayed on for hours and sometimes went off again in a few minutes. The TV is just over 3 years old. Had the service people out and the problem was the bulb. It cost $420.00 to fix. He said our bulb lasted twice the average life. I wish that I had known this since it is a simple fix and the cost of the bulb on line is under $200.00.

The solution to this problem was the Relay RY6001 replacement. I was able to find a suitable part from CPC check out:-
http://cpc.farnell.com/schrack-components/rtb74005/relay-pcb-spco-5vdc/dp/SW02588
for the details. The part fitted Ok when one of the pins is cut off. You do not need this pin so it is OK.

I have a full set of fix it photos if anyone needs them. It took about 40 mins to strip, replace and re-biuld the TV - there are loads of screws to get at the PCB and then you have to put them all back!!

Thanks again to mgnut for all the info.

Hi it sounds like it could be an issue with board that powers the lamp ,it's called the ballast. When you put a new lamp in the ballast has to provide more power ,when it starts to go weak it will not light up.Sometimes you can put your old lamp in and will work fine.Try partstore.com they might have it right there.Hvae a blessed one!

SOURCE: Sony Bravia KDS-60A3000 won't power up 9 flashing red power light

According to other posts I have read (I have same problem) there is no power getting to the fans. They recommend re-seating the fan harness again as it might have come loose or might have dust etc., in it.

I have no idea how to do this yet but that is what the trouble-shooting guide says.

When i turn on my kdl-46ex500 sony tv the screen will flash on and the sony emblem will appear then the tv will shut down you can do this several time still the same out come

You were smart not to let yourself be ripped off. Try this. Unplug and replug the set in powered down status. Then turn on and off using the remote. Then, one by one, actuate every button on the remote, then turn set off, even if already off. Then turn set on. See how the set works now.

WE had Sony Bravia 42" LCD TV for two years working fine. Thuis morning the picture went off. What is the problem?

After checking DVD and other accesaries (functioning OK), I turned the power off for the Cable Box and restart to reset the Cable Box which resored the VIDEO function. I recommend the same procedure for those who has a Cable Box.

Sony bravia kdl-52w3000, turn tv on, no picture or

Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.

To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).

We lose audio on our Sony BRAVIA KDL-52W4100

This problem appears to be an issue with numerous Sony Bravia owners of the same model. Although still seeking a soulution, it would appear that our cable provider (Verizon) has replaced all of their components and the Geek Squad from Best Buy where we purchased the unit, points the finger at Verizon. None of our other Fios-equipped TV's exhibit this problem so I am glad we bought the service plan with the TV and will continue to seek a remedy.

Green screen with sound from cable, but picture is fine with Wii

That would be my solution. The trouble is either in the box or your connecting cables. Verify this by connecting the cable directly to the set. Then try a new set of connecting cables, or call the cable provider to replace the box.
