Before you go crazy trying to solve the F2 code make sure the filter is clear. Disconnect the power cord, PLEASE. Remove the kick plate on the bottom front by removing the 3 screws below it. You will need a hex socket and extension or a torx screw driver. If there is water in the machine and it will not drain you will need a shop vac and some old towels to catch the water when you open the filter. Now, you will see the filter in front of you. Have the towels ready and vac turned on. Quickly unscrew the filter cap and stick the vac hose right in the filter to catch the water. Clean the filter cap. Did you find any socks, money or other debree ? If yes that may have been your problem. Put the filter back on and HAND tighten well. Test the machine. From now on empty all pockets before you do the laundry. You just saved yourself a big repair charge. Be proud of yourself.

The door switch/interlock is not working or the door is not closed properly. Close the door firmly with an extra push on the door handle.

Thank you geomac--you are a national hero!! I didn't feel like losing an hour to go buy a Wet Vac (or ask a neighbor), so I used a cup to get most of the water out of the washing machine (fortunately these machines don't use much water) and then rigged a funnel to direct most of the water into a bucket (I benefitted by having my unit up on the optional drawer/pedestal that I got when I bought the machine). The residual water that spilled I was able to get up with a towel...Thanks again!

My Kenmore Elite HE3 front loading washer won't lock and I press the start button but won't start. Please help! My washer won't start! The washing cycle light just flashes, and when you press and hold

Look at the door latch hole on the washer where the door latch clicks in. See the warning sticker above it? Above that there should be a plastic spring loaded switch. I cant tell but looking at it in the video it looks like it has broke off? If it is then you need a new latch assembly. If its not you may have a bad switch? Still new latch assembly. I cant be certain without being there but this is my guess.

I have a Kenmore Elite HE3 and there is alight on that says "Control Locked" and the washer will not start. I have tried unpluging the machine and pluging it back in but the light is still on....

There's a button on the panel, bottom left, which has small print under it with instructions to press and hold three seconds to unlock the controls.

Controls locked light

The Control Lock is actually a safety feature that enables the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance.

The controls can be easily locked or unlocked by pressing and holding the following button on the front panel:

Kenmore Elite Washer - Press and hold the DRAIN/SPIN button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Dryer - Press and hold the AUTO DRY LEVEL button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite HE3 washer lights light but wash won't start

Sometimes I just have to unplug the machine, wait a few seconds and plug it back in and it works. I guess it resets itself or something.

*&^% screws!!!

F2 = Long Drain. Most common cause is something (or lots of things) stuck in the drain pump. There are screws at the bottom of the front panel that can be removed to check it out. If the screws look like stars they are Torx head screws, get driver from most home centers.
