Maytag Atlantis MAV6200AWW; Washer goes through wash cycle, but doesn't rinse or spin on first go round (timer/switch moves through cycles). Once the switch is moved back to the end of the wash cycle, it drains and refils but it doesn't rinse or spin. After several refils, we move the switch to the spin cycle for the fianl spin.

If the washer is working properly in the wash cycle & not the rinse or spin cycle, I would suspect a defective timer especially with the delay of 30 mins you described. Replace the timer with this part.
replace the timer it has a bad spot inside of it in this segment of the timer and isn't passing voltage for spin, when you forward it then it gets power again, they do wear out too
If you say this only happens on the Colors and Whites cycle i dont see what the lid switch or balance sensor (if your washer has one) would have to do with it. It does seem like it has something to do with the timer,,, it really sounds like maybe the (Colors & Whites) section of the timer is malfunctioning. Inside the timer, there are a series of gears and switches, and by slamming the lid, or tapping on the timer control knob,,, it could maybe help the damaged part of the gear move, temporarily "fixing" the problem
I HAVE AN ATLANTIS MAYTAG WASHER . I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I SOLVED AS FOLOLWS. REMOVED THE MOTOR, I APPLIED GENERAL PURPOSE GREASE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SLIDING MOTOR SURFACE PLATE (MOTOR BASE) . THE GRASE HELPS THE MOTOR TO SLIDE BECAUSE AS YOU KNOW THE MOTOR DOES NOT HAVE ANY ADJUSTMENT. TRY IT PLEASE . GOOD LUCK
