UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME ERROR ON GATEWAY GM5045E WITHOUT RECOVERY OR WINDOWS XP DISC.

An unmountable boot volume error suggests that you may have a hard disk failure or at least some corruption to the hard disk which the system uses to boot Windows XP.
To try to resolve this problem you would need to use a specialist boot CD to try to repair the disk errors. One such disk is Hiren's Boot CD which can be downloaded as a CD image file (.ISO) then would need to be burnt on to a blank CD then the computer booted from this CD.
On the initial Hiren's boot menu, select DOS programs, then select Disk tools before selecting HDAT2 to perform the disk repair actions.
HDAT2 can take some time to complete depending on the size of your internal disk drive and the number of bad sectors or other errors encountered - the tool will attempt to repair bad sectors by reading, verifying, writing and re-reading / verifying the data.
If the disk can be recovered, then you may be lucky and the system will be able to boot but otherwise, you may still need to do some further recovery work for the operating system, in which case you may need a Windows install CD or other recovery CD media.

If HDAT2 finds a lot of unrecoverable errors then you should seriously consider replacing the drive - you should be able to recover data from the old drive using other tools on the Hiren's Boot CD, including booting the CD mini-XP environment and using the tools there too.

Blue Screen doesn't load Operating System. I beleive there is a software conflict when my daughter downloaded an application she needed for university

If you are getting 'Uncorrectable data Error or Media' for your internal hard drive then it is likely that you have a disk problem rather than a software conflict caused by anything your daughter downloaded.
If the Dell diagnostics provide no solution, then you would need to use a specialist boot CD to try to repair the disk errors. One such disk is Hiren's Boot CD which can be downloaded as a CD image file (.ISO) from http://www.hirensbootcd.org/ then would need to be burnt on to a blank CD then the laptop booted from this CD.

When i start my laptop it shows that error loading operating system with black screen and it cannot boot window xp cd????????????

This means that the system files are corrupt or that the system can not locate the device with the operating system on it.
Boot your laptop while pressing F2 and go to the System BIOS. In the BIOS look for boot order or boot sequence. Then select the HARD Disk Drive to be the first booting device and let the CD Drive be the second one and press F10 to save and exit. Observe the results, If it gives you an error message again, try to go back to the BIOS and load Default System settings and restart your laptop again.

If you try all this and you still have the same problem, then organize an XP CD and change the boot device to CD Drive. This will let your laptop boot from the CD. When the CD loads, press enter and after accepting the license agreement (by pressing F8) select "R" to repair your operating system.
NOTE: Do not press "R" as soon as the CD finishes loading because this will induse the Automated Repair, and that is not what we want here....
Man, this will work you out of your trouble. Good luck

This is a common problem and to fix it you will need the Windows installation disc. Put the disc in, press any key to boot from CD/DVD and instead selecting to install select to repair Windows. Follow the prompts and select Startup Repair. Alternatively, from command prompt type in bootrec /fixboot.

I had a problem with my ACER One not responding then I tryied to repair windows xp now all I get is a black screen

It sometimes happen that when we try to repair an error, the system got worse and Some other error comes up.

As you have tried Windows repair,no need of trying again.

I suggest you to download "Hiren's Boot CD"

Here is the link

http://www.hirensbootcd.net/

Just click the download button and download it
Extract the downloaded file using Winzip or Winrar.

Burn the ISO files with Nero or MagicISO or PowerISO in a CD.

Boot the system using that CD (set the First Boot Device as CD-DVd ROM in BIOS).

Select "Start Mini Windows XP" and try some of the extra ordinary system repair tools whihc you won't find in usual Windows repair.

if the problem still persists, you can always backup your imporatnt Data using Hiren's Boot CD and go for a new installed.

Go to your bios and make the cd rom the first boot disk.
To get into the bios, usually del key when booting gets you in.
Once you boot from the xp disk, follow the prompts until you get to the screen to hit f8, on the next screen hit R and the system will do a repair with out changing any of your settings.
Be sure to go to Microsoft and run the XP updates.

Not opening my laptop

Here's what you need to do to fix it: Find some way to get Partition Table Doctor (http://www.ptdd.com/download.htm) and put it on either a live boot CD or from a secondary hard drive installation. Once you have that, Scan the partition for errors and select fix boot... Then if you're running Vista get a copy of Vista Recovery Disc (http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/window... burn yourself a copy of the disc, and run it at the boot of your computer. Once the cd is loaded, click on REPAIR WINDOWS, select COMMAND PROMPT, then use this command: bootrec.exe /fixboot

If that doesn't work use: bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
and see if your windows boots.

IF you have windows XP, boot up with the Windows XP cd, select Repair (R), go into the command prompt (selecting which windows installation you want to modify) and then type this command: fixboot c:

See if your computer boots now.... The important thing is to try to repair your boot which has been deleted or corrupted, that is why it gives the error: err2err3

Try different recovery tools like Table Doctor http://www.ptdd.com/ in conjunction with your recovery cds (windows xp installation CD and Windows Vista Recovery Disc)
