i have the same problem with my Satellite A135-S2256, starts up all lights light up except processor light, fan turns on but CD/DVD drive wont turn on : ( any ideas on why? how to fix?
The problem is well known witht this model Toshiba - the problem is the fan stops working and then hence shuts down to prevent overheating - it does not take long once the laptop is hot. Without replacing the fan just reboot the laptop until you hear the fan start again on reboot.
Is the fan making an unusual noise or just sounding normal but on more then it used to be? If its just on more than it used to be then it will be because the cpu is running hotter than it used to. They are set run at diff speeds depnding on how much cooling is reqd. Is the laptop being used in a warmer place than normal/before?
It may be that the thermal paste between cpu and heatsink isnt performing as well as it used to and needs replacing.
