When we are watching TV it suddenly goes mutd, but whenever we watch movies or are playing a video game it is perfectly fine. Only when we are watching tv doed the audio turn off

Is the mute activated or any buttons on the remote jammed? If the color system/format has changed when you connected it to games, it has to be changed back to what it was, making it suitable for TV reception.
Check if the TV and Amplifier
(if connected) is turned on and set correctly.
Check if the TV, DVD player
and Amplifier are connected properly.
Make sure the TV, DVD player
and Amplifier volume are not set to Mute.
There will be no sound output
during Reverse Play / Pause / Step /
Slow / Search.
If the DTS soundtrack is
enabled in the DVD Disc Menu, but you are using Stereo
Analog audio, the sound will not work. Try switching the
soundtrack to Dolby 5.1 or PCM mode in the Disc
Menu.
Sounds Like the graphics chip is starting to go. Try CPR in NYC. They usually have a 1-3 day turnaround time, and are pretty cost effective. You can easily ship them your unit. They are faster and cheaper than Sony.

have you checked all leads?if they are all correct and undamaged check that you dont need an spif lead or yellow rca connector,then try watching on a different tv with same movie player ie dvd or video if this works there is a fault with the telly if it dosent theres a fault with your player,its a process of elimination check all componants and cross check that means tvs dvds videos and all leads.
It may be a resolution setting issue...the game may be outputting in a resolution that your tv doesnt support. Try going to your video settings and knocking the resolution back to 720p for your HDMI output....in settings under video, select your ouptut, and uncheck the boxes next to the types above 720p. Also make sure you have latest software update for ps3.
