Disconnect iPhone and close iTunes.

Go to Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools.

Under Administrative Tools, Go to Services and look for 2 services.

Apple Mobile Device
iPod service

Both services should be started If they are not, start both of them.

Start iTunes and wait for it to finish loading.

Reconnect iPhone.

This might be a usb problem. Try to remove all your usb devices, restart the computer then plug in only your iPhone, again try different usb port.BTW don't use the dock to connect your iPhone with the computer, use the cable that come with the iPhone.Good luck n hope this help!

Put the phone into DFU or Recovery mode: Hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds, release the power button and continue holding the home button for 5 seconds. Then plug into iTunes and it will update

I just bought a used iphone 2G or 3G not sure, updated it to ios 4 and now it says insert sim.. i did, but now it says connect to itunes. when i connect to titunes it says the iphone cant connect to itunes...

Make sure you have the latest version of itunes on your comp & power up comp & itunes

-power off your phone
-hold down the home button (around 6secs) then insert USB cable while still holding button then release button when cable plugged in
-itunes will then bring up message saying that the phone has been detected in recovery mode
- it will then give you choice to restore your iphone
-continue with this choice & restore your phone as a new iphone, this will wipe everything from the phone including the passcode. I have pasted a link below if you get confused with the restore

Hope this helps!!

Iphone not detected in itunes8.2.0

Hi, welcome to fixya! I've read a lot of blogs about itunes 8.2 which is the latest version of itunes. The problem is when you update your iphone firmware and when it restarted your iPhone will be locked up, so beware of that. Why don't you uninstall your updated iTunes and install the 7.6 version and run the process. If still nothing detected, if you are using PC computers transfer your USB connection at the back of your CPU, cause front and back connection has a power speed difference. Try it first before downgrading your iTunes to a 7.6 version.
