I have the same model and had the same problem after 3 years of use. I checked this and other sites and here's how I fixed it -- easy, peasy.
1. Turn off the power to the refrig. I have a ckt breaker for the refrig so I didn't have to pull it out of its alcove.
2. Open the bottom freezer section, pull up on the front of the middle drawer and pull it out. If you look to the back inside wall of the freezer you'll see 3 vents.
3. Make a platform that will support a common hair dryer to bring it up to the level of the central vent. I used a couple of packs of napkins topped with a towel.
4. Turn on the hair dryer. I left it on for about an hour and heard two chunks of ice fall free at about the 15 and 30 minute points.
5. Remove the hair dryer and platform, put the middle drawer back in the opposite of how you removed it, and close the freezer section.
6. Turn the power back on.
7. Put a towel on the floor to catch the water from the melting ice chunks.
It's been 24 hours and the error has not reappeared.

If this doesn't work, then other comments suggest that it may be the related circuit panel and you'll need to call in for repairs.

I hope that this helps.

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator, Model No.

This is an error code for the icemaker fan motor.
If the control does not see a signal coming back from the fan motor you will get this error code.
Please see the image below from the service manual that explains the ER IF error code.

http://media.fotki.com/1_p,wkbwtkdqbqkgrkkxgtqsskgwtqkq,vi/ktfgsrbbdxktrrwffdr/1/1303472/5961857/image18067img-or.jpg

The ER IF code indicates a failure of the icing fan.

You may notice slower ice production but the other fans should be okay.

You can select the ultra ice option and see if the fan toggles on.

The fan or the control is bad.

I have a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator that has ER 1F on the display. Where can I find a manual with error codes or can you tell me what this means?

Hello Ken;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

The 1F code means there is a communication problem between the control board and the freezer fan.

Your freezer fan my have failed or it my be blocked by ice build-up.

So, It is one of these parts:
1.) Freezer fan motor
2.) Defrost heater
3.) Defrost timer.

You did not provide a model number so I can not provide you with parts numbers.

Although, I am retired, I do maintain a small customer base. If you live near Glen Burnie, MD, call me 443-306-1362

That error comes from a failing fan due to ice build up which directly affects your ice maker.

I have the Kenmore Elite Model # 795.79773.901 and I keep getting Er 1F. What does that mean and what do I do to fix it?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

I hate to just paste a link to the answer but this answer is quite thorough:

If you have frost build up in the freezer compartment it can impede operation of the fan. Frost build up is usually a secondary symptom of an automatic defrost system problem. i.e it is not defrosting... due to a failure of one of the following:
-defrost heater
-defrost thermostat
-defrost control

Hold the door light switch depressed and see if the light goes out and that the fan is running.

If the fan has failed the part number is around $60.00 usually. There are AC and DC fans in this unit.
Your parts can be found here:

Kenmore model 79578502800 refrigerator error code 1F. icemaker does not work

The water tube to the icemaker inside the refrig maybe frozen up. Thaw out with your hair dryer. To make sure the tube is clear. Shut of the water to the refrig, disconnect the inlet water line to the icemaker. Insert a flexable through the connector fitting, I used a zip tie. The flexable item should go all the way to the icemaker

Solution #2 Replace the "water inlet valve" at bottom back right of refrig. Easy To Do.

Code on door says er dH on Kenmore elite refrig

This error code has something to do with a defrost sensor and happened after an extended power outage. I unplugged the refrig and it reset itself!
