Whirpool Gold side by side GC5SHEXNS00 fresh food side not cold. Evaporator fan only getting 10 volts should be 12Vdc. Replaced Inverter box and fan motor what's next?

Whirlpool refrigerator stopped cooling in fresh food side. Repairmain came out and said main controller was bad so I replaced the inverter box but that did not fix the problem. After googling my problem I found the evaporator fan was not turning so I replaced the thermostat and the evaporator motor but the fan tries to start but won't.I unplugged the fan and checked the voltage, I was only getting 10.5 Vdc instead of the 12Vdc the fan requires. What should I check next?

I have a Frigidaire Electrolux Side by Side FRS26KR4CW1. The Fresh Food box is not cooling!

If it’s a defrost problem, entire evaporator will need to be completely thawed. Afterwards, bad defrost components will need to be replaced.

My refrigerator is not cooling on the refrigerator side

There are so many things that can make your fresh food side not cool. Usually, it is a frosted up evaporator, which is blocking the air flow of cold from coming from the freezer to the fresh food section. This can be caused by a bad defrost timer, a bad defrost thermostat, a bad defrost heater, or a bad control board. It could be a week compressor that is only strong enough to cool the freezer, the evaporator fan may be bad, which blows the cold air from the freezer to the fresh food section, the damper control going from the freezer to the fresh food section, can be stuck in the closed position, or in rare cases, the light in the fresh food section can be staying on, or even the condenser fan that is responsible for keeping the compressor and condenser from getting to hot, may be bad. This is usually behind the bottom of the fridge. You might also have a dirty condenser, which is the coil that is usually underneath the fridge. So you are most likely going to have to call for service.

Fresh food section warm, freezer is cold

If you check both of the fan motor wires with a meter at the same time , and you get 120 volts , then the fan motor is bad . Do not check to ground , but both wires at the same time . To check the defrost , you will have to turn the timer into defrost , and see if the heater comes on . With no model number , can't give you anymore info . But yes , as simple as replacing the motor .

My refridge isnt cold enough but my freezer isthe fan sounds like its running and the condenser is on. also the fan/condenser are never turning off by them self

This has happened in my GE side-by-side (model GSS20IEMDWW). For me, the problem was caused by a faulty temp sensor in the fresh food side. That sensor never signalled the computer that the temp in the fresh food side was cool enough, so the compressor ran constantly.

Since the compressor was running constantly, the evaporator coils (back wall of the freezer compartment) eventually iced over (took about a week). Since the fan that draws air over the evaporator coils could no longer move any air (due to the icing), the temperature in the fresh food side continued to climb. (The fresh food side is chilled through a hole with a motorized door at the top of the dividing wall, so if no air is moving in the freezer compartment, temps in the fresh food compartment climb.)

I replaced the temp sensor in the fresh food side and solved the problem for a while. About six months later I had the same problem again, so I replaced both temp sensors in the freezer compartment - which solved the problem again. (My fridge is about seven years old.)

If you are going to replace any of the temp sensors, replace them all under the principle of "if one failed, the rest will soon fail too".

Use a website like www.partselect.com to look up a parts diagram for your fridge and see if you can order just the temp sensors. Other websites (www.repairclinic.com and www.appliancepartsworldwide.com) may also be helpful. I have no affiliation with any of the sites I just mentioned - I'm just posting them as resources.

Frigidair side by side refigerator fan not operating

I do see the power to the evaporator fan section going through the adaptive defrost part number 240554502 It would not hurt to unplug for a few moments and open the control panel inside the fresh food section and examine that control board. With it doing that you may see signs of heat or burn marks on the ADC Let me know, Sea Breeze

Freezer fan is making whirring noise

Generally the freezer or (evaporator) fan is behind the panel in the freezer and in most freezers Side by side or standard type have a series of screws or along the outer edges of the freezer panel...some (like in side by side have a freezer fan and a fresh food fan....but not many generally cold air from the freezer is introduced into the fresh food compartment by way of a vent or port hole that aloows free flow of cold air into the fresh food area (but I digress) anyway take out the (several) up to 10 screws that hold the panel in place...if you don't do it soon the fan will go out and then the freezer compartment will iIce over and the fridge will cease to cool...once you pull the panel you will see it ...take it out and take to Johnstone supply, Marcones, or WW graingers for a good price on parts. If you have them where you live.
I hope this helped....If so please rate me. thanks ...the Fang

GE fridge: Freezer working but fresh food side not cold

The problem is the refrigeration evaporator, located in the freezer section is blocked with frost and ice and not air can pass through it. Four different failed parts can cause this problem. The defrost timer, the defrost heater safety thermostat, the defrost heater, or the evaporator fan motor. Unless you are very good with a volt-ohm meter, it wiil be difficult to distinguish which one of these parts has failed. A qualifed refrigeration service tech or a good appliance service tech with a refrigeration certification can find this quickly.

Kemore brand - freezer works fine, refrigerator not cold,

The fresh food side is cooled by the freezer side through a duct between the two. It will have a small door that opens or closes depending on how cool you want the fresh food side. The door opens more as you adjust the temp for the fresh food side colder. If the duct is blocked in any way, then it would be like setting the temp setting for the fresh food side warmer and warmer. The freezer would be cold and the fresh food side would be warm. Set the temp to midway. Check for any obstructions to this duct. The evaporator fan is what moves the air to the fresh food side.. If the evaporator fan is not working, this could vary well is the problem. You may have to check the evaporator coil to see if it is frosted up enough to restrict air flow over the evaporator and to the fresh food side. If this helps you find your problem, please rate me. If there is anything else I can help you with, please ask. I am here to help you.

Refrigerator does not get as cold as I would like

First check the condensor fan and condensor for dust and make sure they are clean. If these areas are not clear the system will not operate correctly. You should be able to place your hand down low on the front of the frig and feel warm air coming out of the grate there. The presence of a flow of air meens that the condensor fan is working. Depending on how forceful the air flow is, would depend on how much dirt and dust the condensor has collected. The temp controls should be set to midway first. There is a dilicate balance for these settings. Over adjusting can cause problems. Then after several hours check the frig. If not cold enough. Adjust only the fresh food adjustment colder a little bit at a time. Repeating this untill your fresh food side is cold enough. If you over adjust the fresh food side too much then food in the fresh food side will begian to freez. If you set the freezer side too high you may be causing too much frost build up on the evaporator and lowering the air flow to the fresh food side and causing it to be warmer than it should be. This would be a check to see if you can balance the frig temp. If you can`t get it to balance and there are no restriction of air flow in either the evaporator or condensor, then we may have to look farther into problems with the compressor. You may need to check for some ice buildup around the air inlet in the fresh food side from the freezer side. Try this and let me know how it is.

Freezer works fine but the fridge won't get cold

It sounds like cold air from the freezer isn't making it to the fridge compartment. This can be cause by a several things. The damper that lets air into the fresh food side is stuck in "closed" position, the temp sensor (t-stat) isn't working properly, the evaporator fan (in the freezer comp above the coils) isn't working to blow air up to the fresh food section. In some situations, the defrost cycle for the freezer section isn't working and the coils have frozen into a block of ice and air can't flow over them properly so you get not cold air to the fresh food section but the freezer still stays cold due to the block of ice.
