It could be in the drive belt take a floor jack jack it up try it in the air & see if it goes into gear e-mail me back at [email protected]

I followed your solution however it goes in gear by forcing but not smoothly. Goes into reverse smoothly but coming back to neutral , one and two it is forcibly hard but three , four and five goes smoothly. once in gear up to five bringing it back to neutral it is hard to bringing up to one & two, but if it isn't brought back to neutral, it slides smoothly back up to two, three and five.

Scotts L2048 lawn tractor deck wont engage

You need to check the wires from the clutch, with the ignition on pull the pto switch out there should be a 12 volt supply at the wires if not replace the pto switch, if you have 12 volts then it is the clutch itself, they are not realy repairable, so may need a replacment.

Is there a lever or pull device that disengages the drive so you can push the mower? If you can push the mower with the brake off, the trans is not properly engaged.

Is this helpful?

Not sure, but i think the electronic clutch is not engaging when i push the control levers forward or backwards. the engine and the mower deck both run, but the mower will not move

The electric clutch is to power the blades/mower deck. There is a belt that drives the hydrostatic pumps to power the wheels. Make sure the Parking brake is OFF. Could be a belt, spring, idler pulley.
