When you are driving the steering wheel drops down and you cannot steer to fix it i have to pull up on the wheel and hold it or it will fall down again no steering how do i fix the problem it is still under warenty for 1 more week
I had the same problem with my 15 year old Craftsman lawn tractor. I tried to adjust the steering travel but it gave me marginal relief for a year until the steering failed with my steering wheel spinning freely and the wheels free to go left and right. The left bias for steering indicates that the steering shaft pinion weld was shearing prior to failure.
I took the steering apart and found that the drive pinion gear was sheared off the end of the steering shaft at the weld. I replaced the shaft and sector gear to fix this issue.
This fix requires good amount of mechanical disassembly to get the replacement parts in place so you might need to go to a shop to get a mechanic to fix this if you aren't set up for this kind of fix by disconnecting the mower deck and jacking up the front end to access the steering gear assembly and steering arm links.

Check the steering assembly, located at the bottom of the steering shaft. There you will see a steering plate with a tooth spline, this spline matches up with the steering shaft gear. There are several bolts holding the Steering assembly to the mount plate. If these bolt are loose or missing the steering wheel will fall down. You must drop the mount plate to get to the steering assembly. Once this plate is dropped you can get to the steering assembly to tighten or replace the missing bolts. To drop the mounting plate there are four bolts holding the mounting plate to the tractor, two bolts on each side of the tractor. You must,be very careful doing this repair, you will be under the tractor. You will need to jack the tractor high enough,to crawl under. Hope this information helps. Sincerely,Brad Locke
