I WOULD LIKE TO RESTORE TO FACTORY SETTINGS TY

You will loose all data you have put on the computer. When you turn it on right at the beginning there is a black screen and there are a few f key options.
They will flash up with the option when you turned it on, before windows kicks in. Take a look at the user manual to find out for sure.
Press the correct f key before windows starts up, then go through the menus in setup (it will look all crappy and dos like) and find restore factory settings (or something like that) and click yes.
It's a great feature, and will completely kill any virus or **** problems you have had and couldn't get rid of.
Hope this helps. I would appreciate your feed back as I do this for fun not pay.

I want to reformat PB MS2303

Packard Bell is a computer manufacturer, now owned by Acer. Restoring your computer will erase the hard drive and install a fresh copy of Microsoft Windows. This is beneficial if the Packard Bell is showing its age and running extremely slow or has been hit with an incurable virus infection. Before attempting to restore the system, be sure to back up any data you wish to save.

1.Insert the Windows Setup CD/DVD into the computer's optical drive. The disc will have been included with the Packard Bell computer.

2.Restart the computer with the disc inserted. A black screen will appear when the disc is detected, displaying "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..." Press any key on the keyboard to launch the Windows installer. The "Install Windows" screen will appear.

3.Click "Next."

4.Select "I accept the license terms" and click "Next."

5.Click "Custom" when asked what type of installation you'd like. The other option is "Upgrade," but in order to restore your Packard Bell system to its factory settings, you must reformat the hard drive.

6.Click "Drive Options" when asked where to install Windows. Select the C: drive and click "Erase." Select the unallocated space after it has been erased, and click "Format." Format the space using the "NTFS" file system.

7.Click "Next" and Windows will begin reinstalling on the Packard Bell's hard drive. The system will reboot when finished and launch into your newly restored Packard Bell.

I want to restore my factory settings

Do you have the restore discs? If not order them or go to Toshiba site and order them or download them if that is the option they provide for you. Also if you have the restore disc then just insert the restore disc and follow the on screen directions.
Make sure that the boot order is set to DVD or CD as the first boot and hard disk as the second boot this should be already set in the BIOS. Order the discs if you do not have them imperative. Thanks for using FixYa!
P.S. If you cannot get a restore disk from Toshiba I use this site for all restore discs. Note you have a PayPal account it is free to get at PayPal.com I use PayPal because I know it is a legit site. Click Here

Windows explorer does not respond. I tried different things and still not working. When I click on the icon it does not open. so... I wanted to restore the computer to mani factory settings and I...

That option is the built in Windows restore, Not the system recovery that you need.
You should of been given either a windows disc or recovery/factory restore disc with your computer. OR it will have asked you to make a recovery disc when you first used your computer.

If you have none of these you will need to buy one. Recovery discs are about £15.
You may also wish to get a copy of windows to start from a fresh instalation

I dont know how to restore my asus x58c laptop to its original factory settings without the disks

Bottom line- You can't. Unlike other electrical equipment there is no magic "factory reset" button. You need at least an OS install disc and a back-up of the drivers. At one time the discs were supplied with PC's but this very rarely happens and the paperwork supplied normally advises you make your own back up discs before you get carried away, but it very rarely happens.

It may be worth looking at why you wish to restore to original, is it necessary?

Need to restore my acer aspire to factory setting but never got a recovery disc at purchase, how do I go about doing this as i am not that technically minded

"Restoring a system should be a last ditch effort in trying to repair a computer, since restoration causes all programs and many files to be lost forever. Restoring an Acer computer to its original factory settings can be done in a few easy steps."
  1. Click “Start” menu.
  2. Click “Programs.”
  3. Click “Acer Recovery Management.”
  4. Click the “Restore” button on the bottom of the dialog box that opens.
  5. Click “Restore System to Factory Default.”
  6. Click “Yes” in the warning dialog box which asks if you wish to continue the recovery process.
  7. Click “Start” to restore the computer to the default factory settings.

My 0xc000000c "Restore Failed" prompt seemed to be the result of disk surface damage on the restore disk. After burning the restore disk to a new disk, the restore proceeded normally. Try making a copy of the original restore disk to a known good blank disk.
