Document jammed The machine keeps saying 'document jammed' even though there is no jam. I have tried unplugging the machine and yet it still wont send a fax. It will however, make a copy of the document which doesn't make sense because the document is being fed in the same slot. Need instructions ASAP!

It sounds as through the paper jam sensor is either dusty so needs a clean, or the sensor has stopped working totally & needs replacing, if this item is still under warrentee I would call the company for the repair, if not a local computer repair company will be able to assist you further, most offer a free quotation service if you ask...

I do hope this helps resolve your problem, if you could reply & let me know the outcome, many thanks...

SOURCE: Machine won't draw the paper in to send the fax

Technically, your machine is jammed. The paper is jamming as it exits the feed area, and enters the machine. Not being specifically familiar with that model, but rather based on experience with other simular machines with like problems, I would say you should look for 3 possible causes... Most machines have, shortly into the paper path, and generally in the area you're indicating, some sort of sensor switch, whether it be photo-electric, or a mechanically activated toggle, that senses and registers the lead edge of the paper so the machine knows it did feed. This switch could be knocked out of place, or simply dirty, and not sensing the lead edge of the paper within a certain period of time after the machine registers the feed had been actuated. A second possible cause would be (and you may be able to visually verify this) is that usually, in these types of machines, there is some sort of pressure or "retard" pad/roller in conjunction with the feed roller. If this isn't working right, the machine may be feeding more than one sheet at a time, and becoming jammed in the paper path path area due to "thickness". A third possible issue could be an unremoved scrap of paper from a previous jam (or a staple/paperclip/piece of rubber-band/or any other foriegn object, as I've seen them all) still remaining in a thin and obscure position of the paper path blocking the paper's progress to the afformentioned switch. Those are the most likely, but probably not the only possible, causes of the problem you are exoeriencing.

SOURCE: machine reads "document jammed"

its the problem of the rollers which pulls the papers they r worn out.I've seen this before repairing computers and asked about fax machines while I am there. There are rollers that cling on to the paper and move it through the machine. When the rollers are worn down they do not grip the paper. For a short fix you can get something rough like sandpaper, brillo pad, etc, and gently scratch the rollers to give them some traction. This will temporarily solve your problem until you can get the rollers replaced.

The fax is received by the other party but we receive an error code J72. There is no jam

Dear
If you are sending the fax using ADF, there may be the document jam, Open the ADF cover check the path for any foreign objects.
Also you can send from platen glass without document jam.

Also this may happen to the other end fax machine, better you do a test copy from ADF and Platen glass. and confirm your fax machine is ok.
Thanks.

Our Canon jx210p fax keeps saying "chk printer

CHK PRINTER 5100 / SEE MANUAL
Cause Action Movement of the Holder is blocked. Clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the Holder from moving, then turn off the machine and turn it back on again. There may be an obstruction that is not allowing the Holder mechanism to move. Check for any obstruction (paper clip, small object, etc.) and also that the protective tape are removed from the FINE Cartridge. Check also for a paper jam and clear the jam if necessary . Then press [Stop/Reset] and start again. The FINE Cartridge may be defective. Press [Stop/Reset]. Reinstall the FINE Cartridge (see Prepare the Machine ) and start again. In either case, if the error does not clear, try unplugging the fax. Wait several minutes, then plug it back in. Also, try replacing the FINE Cartridge with a new one. An error requiring servicing might have occurred. Turn off the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from the power supply. After a while, plug the power cord of the machine back in and turn on the machine. If the same error occurs, contact the service center.

Keeps showing "document jam" even though the jam was cleared

Most likely one of the jam sensors was knocked out of its clip. You would have to take the document feeder off and apart to find and reseat it.

Document jam

I had this totally annoying problem this morning. After looking for any obvious paper jams or small bits of loose paper, I tried several fixes: 1) open front cover, release levers that hold white rollbar in place, roll the bar forward to make sure nothing is stuck behind it, snap levers back in place; DID NOT fix the problem; 2) open top cover, remove print cartridge, look for jammed paper bits, close cover; DID NOT fix the problem; 3) unplug the machine, wait a few minutes, turn machine back on; DID NOT fix the problem. I even unplugged the machine, opened ALL the covers, turned the machine upside down and shake it to see if any paper clips, staples, or other objects have fallen inside the machine; DID NOT fix the problem. FINALLY, I pulled the paper feed tray forward, reached down to the feed rollers, twisted them a few turns, put paper back in the machine, and the "paper jam" message disappeared! This may not work for everyone, but it worked for me today, so I hope this helps someone out there to have a better day.

Faxing

Hi:

You may have removed the paper but the reason why it is still saying paper jam can be caused by at least two things.

If you removed the paper, but it tore while you were taking it out then a small piece could be blocking a sensor or a sensor flag ( a spring loaded finger that the paper has to activate as it moves through the machine) It's possible that a small piece of paper could be blocking a sensor or you may have disloged one of these 'flags' in the area where you first removed the paper. Go back and look closely in that area for a piece of paper or a sticking ''flag'. Until you do that the fax keeps thinking that there is something in the paper path and will keep displaying that message.

Brother fax machine Fax-2820 MFC-7225N

Hi. Open the document control panel and look in with a flashlight and see if the jam switch is stuck. also look for a small piece of paper that might be stuck in there. The jam is in where you put documents in to fax out. Lawrence

Says paper jam, but none jammed

It is probably jammed in the back door of the fax. Check that and see if you find anything.

Paper Jam message

There are a couple of sensor flags in side the machine and also the document feeder area. Little black levers that flip and trip a sensor. Make sure they are all moving freely. There is one or two in the doc feed area. One inside the paper feed area. One or two in the ribbon area.

Jammed document

JC
I had the same problem- jam error with no paper in it. I tried all of the suggestions to no avail. So as a last resort before I went and purchased another one I unplugged it, picked it up, turned it upside down and whacked it a few times. To my surprise when I plugged it back up it worked just fine! Haven"t had any problem since. I don"t reccomend this but as a last resort, what the heck!
