Did you try going into the menu and increasing the picture brightness?

SOURCE: picture fuzzy on dark scenes

Well I finally had the TV picked up by a Toshiba recommended repair place and they are saying that it is a bad Optical Block, also known as the Light Engine. Total for pick up, parts and repairs is $827.00. This seems ridiculous to me when brand new TVs are so much cheaper now. I don't think I will pay that much to have this one fixed.

Good Day, tfarmer;

Since you have replaced the lamp, which is the normal cause for a dark picture. Have you checked your video settings?

The brightness level should be set at about 55 to 60%, the contrast should be set at about 90% and the video temp should be at normal or high.

If all these are set about this way, then I would think that the light engine might be going bad.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WD-62527. Dark picture.

That unit is a two mirror set. Meaning the light engine lens shines down onto a small mirror and that is reflected onto a large mirror and then onto the screen. Gravity being what it is dust and other contaminants cover the lower mirror. Moving the set would only aggrevate dust settling on it. To fix the problem the screen must be removed and the mirror cleaned. You won't believe the difference. It will be like watching a new tv.

Turn ALS off. IT is in the same menu as brightness.

Sorry to tell you but JVC is a well-known un-reliable brand and if it's cheap, probably even worse. U may have screen burn from leaving a games console on while plugged into the tv, even if its not showing the game, it will burn it onto the screen. :(

Picture getting dark

My jvc 27" tv was so dark I could hardly see any night scenes, even with the bright all the way on. If you push the sleep button, let go, then hold down the video and display (together), the service menu will come on. Scroll down to #7 (too dark) and adjust the brightness there. Works immediately. Good luck.

Dark pictures

Be sure that you are capturing images in the right shooting mode. For example, if shooting a night scene your image will be underexposed and dark if the image is captured in the Program Auto mode for regular photography, or in any mode other than Night Scene. Be careful that when capturing images, nothing is obstructing the flash.
