Freezer fan makes noise

Model #LTF2112AR. First my freezer was freezing but refigerator wasn't cooling and the fan sounded like it was struggling to work so, I exposed freezer coils to make sure no ice build up and poured warm water to make sure opening for air were open. All OK. I put everything back together and the fan noise was gone for 2 days at which time it came back loud like it was going to fly out the freezer but my refrigerator was cold, yeah. I want to make sure that I only need a new freezer fan? Could there be another problem?

SOURCE: Ice build-up around the fan making a noise.

Drain line froze.
Used hair dryer to thaw frozen line, works OK now. 01/07/09
Think the frozen drain line was caused by the light in the refrigerator not shutting off when the door closes, causing excess cooling in the freezer. Poor design on the light shutoff switch, corrected design to make permanent repair

I have an Admiral top=freezer refrigerator model LTF2112AR. Suddenly, this evening, the motor in the back of the freezer began making continuous noises, it sounds like a grinding noise, but it is still...

Is the compressor making the noise or is it the fan motor that is making the noise. If the compressor then you are looking at over $500 for replacement and you will have to decide if your refrigerator is worth that type of investment.

But if it is the fan motor, then you could replace it yourself. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5170333 Item 11 is the fan motor and you could replace it. The compresson is item 1 and would require a trained person to replace it.

Loud noise from freezer of GE model GSF25TGTB (Side by side)

Problems not related.  The first is most likely the fan, or possibly water dripping on to the fan and freezing, but usually the noise comes from the fan struggling to run.  The cube problem could be as simple as the ice dispenser being put back in wrong.  There is a metal lever under the ice tray that switches between crushed and cubed.  Make sure it is seated properly.

Our Kenmore Refigerator was purchased July 1992. Model # 363-9524720 Serial # L220-16905. Problem: Refigerator runs but freezer section does not freeze and ice cubes are not forming. Food storage area does...

As a start, try cleaning the coils and fan under the refrigerator.

You would not believe how many refrigerators and freezers I've worked on which required nothing but a good coil cleaning. The dirtier these coils get, the less efficient the unit becomes until it reaches a point that it almost appears as if the refrigerant unit is not working at all when all it really needs is a good cleaning.

While you're under there, be sure the fan is running to pull air over the coils to cool and condense the freon inside them.

Hot to touch

there is another fan at the bottom, rear, of the refigerator. remove the bootom panel and look at the cooling fins to make sure they are not bent into the fan blades. Caefully bend the fins away from the fan. this should improve the cooling of the refrigerator and get rid of the hot spot on the rail between the refrigerator and freezer.

Freeze slite cool but refigerator is not cool at all

Sounds like a defrost system failure. This could be the freezer fan, heater, timer. You need an OHM meter.

You can manually defrost the freezer with a hair dryer that will get it working for a couple of days. Remember there is a lot of ice behind the freezer back wall, you can only see the tip of the iceburg.
